The Patron-voted sketch from last month- a vignette of what might have happened, if circumstances had allowed Lilith and Bast to keep their date in the graphic novel saga.In fact, this well could have occurred- if only Cuddles hadn't pounced on Namah in Volume 1. How differently events would have unfolded...

This love triangle with mace Lilith and bast reminds me of the love triangle of naruto sasuke and Sakura
naruto = mace
sasuke = bast
sakura = Lilith
though it's too early who she'll end up it's becoming pretty obvious

This is such a lovely cute drawing scenes of Bast and Lilith in this what if scenario, I like the way Bast behaves so timidly and Liliths reaction. Im not much into couples but this was quite a fun drawing

Aww, that's too bad. Oh well, he still has more chances. Personally I think Bast might be a better fit with Lilith than Mace. If anything, I think Mace might be more of a fit with Namah, seeing as their personalities and likes...are a bit more in line with each other.

Seeing this, I can't help but totally support this ship! I can somewhat seeing this dynamic happening despite seeing so few moments between them in GNS.
But, in my somewhat headcanon head, it makes me wonder what Igrath would think about this, should Lilith ever had mentioned this date during one of her visits?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually support the Lilith X Bast ship over the Lilith X Mace one. I'm saying that as someone who ordinarily hates shipping with a passion. Even though the main story makes you really want to root for Mace in every facet of his life, the "socially awkward main character underdog kid eventually getting the older, super pretty, perfect girl he's been pining for all these years" angle is kind of played out. Plus, Mace and Lilith's personalities, while certainly not grating against one another (Lilith doesn't grate against anyone, really), don't really seem to match up. They seem better as friends. Lilith and Bast seem to be on similar wavelengths, especially when it comes to levels of maturity. Same with Mace and Namah.

As a Mace-supporter in the Bast/Mace rivalry, I look at "what might've been" and think "good thing it didn't," even knowing that anything between Mace and Lilith is likely doomed to the same fate as the relationship between Dipper and Wendy in Gravity Falls. He's probably too young, and it probably could never go beyond simple friendship. Bast is still a bit of a dick, though, even with his implied tragic backstory and gradual character development as of V3 and 4.
