Description This is for `kuschelirmel "Song Challenge: October" (see here for more informations).

It takes me a lot of time to complete it for different reasons: I had some problems in this period, then I had difficulties founding the right stocks and then, overall, finding the right solutions to blend the pieces toghether. And I'm not sure I succeded... it's just my third manip (oh, well, second-and-a-half, because the first one was never completed XD).

So, now, about the concept: according to my own interpretation, the lyrics talk about a power wich have crashed on itself. Expecially the verse wich says "Once you know there was never, never an honest word" makes me wonder about the causes of the crisis, and I thought that very often the causes of the crash of a reign (or of a government or a power in general) are well recognizable since its birth, if you pay attention to it. A reing falls when its bases are not solid enough, when it lays on a precarious equilibrium (from this the title of the piece). So I tried to imagine how could I visually represent a bad equilibrium, and I had the idea of the sphere. I also thought that in these cases the ones who live in the reign, and of course the one wich rules on it, are not able to see it, and always think that everything is good and bright... so I tried (not so successfully) to make the castle to stand out. For the same reason I obscured the base. The crakcs on it are to enhance the sense of instability.

Wow
The first time I looked at this, the idea of it made me dizzy. You definitely thought about this concept for a while and the outcome is amazing. I love the way you have the castle appear as if it's straight up and down even though the rock it's on isn't.
The colourful (well, somewhat) grunge border adds a nice finishing touch to it

I really, really love your interpretation of the song especially since an object resting on a curved peak (on top of a sphere for example) is the physicist's definition of an unstable equilibrium - a slight deviation is enough to throw the system off balance

Everything here works very well for your concept, from the spotlight on the castle (which btw I find you pulled off great!) to the obscured base and the grungy frame. Even the composition, with the castle and its base in the center as well as the castle in the top third and the sphere in the bottom third, lends itself to your concept

On the technical side, I see no flaws either: the blending works great and the colours do too

all in all a great piece of artwork

My God, I couldn't believe it! Is it a dream? kuschelirmel is making me compliments _
Really, I'd never expected something like this! Still now I think this piece is so far from being great...!
Thanks, thanks, thanks for the comment! I'm so honoured! I've started photomanipulating just 'cause I were in love with your works...! I never studied anything about compositions etc., and I learn photomanipulation techniques just observing your works and reading your tutorials... and now this comment! You made my day, thanks! I'm so happy!
But now I have to not big-head myself, and work hard for december song!

It is a very good idea, and a well illustrated one. I especially like how you managed to keep visible balance between the pieces that are stacked on one another, but the viewer is very aware that the balance is momentary, and everything will come tumbling down any second. Also, the texturing, though may be a little overdone, works well to create a dramatic feeling that everything is not as bright as it may seem.

The only point that I would note is that the castle and the trees could use a little more overlap with the rock they stand on - a part of the castle and a tree or two could be shown closer to the viewer, and go a little lower on the front rock slope... as it is, the blending is very well done, but looks a little flat.

Still, it is a great work, congratulations on achieving such good result and on conveying such a powerful thought.

Hi! First of all, thank you REALLY much for your critic. I appreciate it a lot

Then... deepness is always been my first enemy... even when I draw, everything I do seems flat. There must be something wrong in me O.o But I have understood your suggestion. Like everyone of the best suggestions it's wonderfully obvious Next time I will surely try to improve!

Thanks a lot, again!
