Description Something I've been picking at for a few days now. I just wanted to draw my two ladies Solah and Tien, but I also wanted to do something more bittersweet. Solah and Tien are very bittersweet. Tender, loving, but they've had anything but an easy time.

Anyway, I decided to play with Solah a bit more on this one. Her hair to be specific; I rather like this layered look. I think I'll keep it. Also it was a lot of fun to draw these two girls in their nighties. Tien has always been a simple gal, very much a tomboy (Master Broih is the one who trained her to be fancier), so she gets a comfy yellow nightdress. Solah on the other hand has always been elegant, liking flowing garments as such. Her nightdress is no exception.
It was good to draw my girls again! I don't give them enough attention. But I guess that makes sense since Grey Eyes isn't about them. They'll get their own short after I'm done with GE though~ Someday my sweets. Someday! In the meantime they'll get sporadic illustrations.

I agree that the layered look is quite nice for Solah's hair - it seems fitting. And I've always had a love for characters with green hair~

Tien, seems like quite the opposite, and yet I still love her just as much. I agree that we don't get to see much of these girls, but the moments you do show of them seem to be so sweet and full of love ♥

Man this hurts to see.  Poor Tien looks so distraught.  I wonder if this is before certain events or after, and she's still in shock that those events have lead her back to Solah.  No matter what, Tien's hurting.  Poor baby.  :c


Wonderful work with the lighting and poses.  Their expressions are wonderful, and I adore Solah's hair.  It is wonderful and the layered look really does compliment her.

Mwhahah, you know I love the mushy stuff but I also love the painful stuff. I really don't do it enough so it was a good change of pace. AND I'LL NEVER TELL IF THIS IS BEFORE OR AFTER. >:^D I will let you ponder.

Thank you Grimmy! I really wanted to do something special with the posing in this one, since it is such an important moment for my two girls. I think I will keep this layered look for her hair. It was fun to draw and to color and I love how it all came together~

So emotive I really love what you did with the hair. I think I saw a hairdo like this (if I get it right) IRL, on black hair, and it looked amazing.

I'm glad you like her hair. I love Solah with regular long hair, but since my Ynoizmno do a bunch of stuff with their hair I thought it was time to change it up.

I'm glad you like how I do my work too! I've really been liking just cleaning up my sketches and coloring them. It's a lot of fun for me.

*whispers* I'm actually more of a fan of Tien. I don't really know these girls, they never got as much screen time as, say, Luke, but she somehow feels so kin.


I guess how you colour just shows the important part of art that I repeat over and over again to so many people around DA and my own life: that you don't have to be the master inker, or have billions of brushes, use super-technologies and choose among hundreds of programs to make great art. Like this, you can make a coloured pencil sketch, but make it really wonderful if you have some patience and a desire to.

I get that! Solah is really a miniscule character; she isn't even in Grey Eyes, just mentioned (and even then barely mentioned). But she's extremely important for Tien, so that's a big deal. But Tien is really a delight, she's one of my favorites as well.
