Description I was planning on doing more shots in my little studio, but I couldn't find any themes or interesting subjects, so I just took some fruit macros...
Hope you like it a bit... this orange shot came out of a batch of 40, so I could say it was fairly hard to select the best one.
Enjoy!

Ti-a iesit superb! Imi place paleta de culori calde si textura arata foarte fain, ai folosit apa minerala?

I sunk the orange in a glass of mineral water( Club Soda ). The citric acid + the bubbles from the mineral water create this kind of effect. Thanks

Hmm... i'm confused as to what I think about this one...

As a thumb... I find myself suddenly wanting an orange... this photo is so mouth-watering that it's just... damn it... I want an orange!!

In all seriousness... your ability to make me crave an orange shows great skill in taking the photo... I love the bubbles & that orange...

At the same time, in full-view, as others have said, there's the sharpness issue in the bubbles... another issue that I have with the photo is the contrast... it feels a bit too much... the outter part of the photo.. which is divided by blue & orange... seems a bit loud too me...

Anyhow... hope this helps some...

I on the otherhand... still want an orange.

btw I lowered the contrast as well... sry for the repeated entries in your devwatch list with this one ^_^

thanks for the constructive criticism... I followed Ryan99's advice and I used the Omniedgesharpen action in PS, which made the photo more sharper, avoiding the noise. Hope it looks a bit better than the last one. And I'm glad I made you want an orange

Looks pretty good... the bubbles are crisp... and I think the orange is pretty much where it should be... you could lower the contrast a bit more... but I think it pops pretty well here...

and I still want an orange!

The orange and blue work really well next to each other. Itd be nicer if it were a bit sharper, but in all, pretty refreshing

thanks for noticing that, I'll see what I can do in PS with the sharpening.

RYAN99 In reply to DropKickLippy [2005-08-24 22:15:49 +0000 UTC]

You might want to try out a PS action called Omniedgesharpen (or something similar - search on google). It might help sharpen the egses of the bubbles etc whilst keepingthe noise down on the rest of the photo, since, as the name implies, it only sharpens the edges.

DropKickLippy In reply to RYAN99 [2005-08-25 00:47:37 +0000 UTC]

thanks again dude... that's one kickass action! it's perfect... almost no noise and the pic is sharper. Any ideas where I can find more helpful actions like these ones.

RYAN99 In reply to DropKickLippy [2005-08-25 10:58:47 +0000 UTC]

Another good one is Noiseware (which is a separate programme) - its will take out the noise, then you can use the sharpening action to put the sharpness back in - so you end up with a smooth, yet sharp image.

One which can look nice on certain photos in 'midnight sepia' - gives a blurry, sepia effect.

Is "midnight sepia" part of the program "Noiseware" or is it just another action in PS ?

RYAN99 In reply to DropKickLippy [2005-08-25 13:58:21 +0000 UTC]

Midnight sepia is a seperate action. [link] is a good place for actions etc.

Bubbles! Inexperienta mea in domeniul fotografiei ma indeamna sa te intreb: portocala aia e sub apa, intr-un pahar ceva? Ca altfel nu se explica bulele...nu conteaza, era o intrebare stupida! Trebuie sa-ti zic ca-ti admit perseverenta! adica sa faci 40 de fotografii unei portocale, cand simpla ei prezenta cauzeaza o stare de inexplecabila foame (cel putin in cazul meu)?

DropKickLippy In reply to dune3001 [2005-08-24 20:29:25 +0000 UTC]

yup the orange was sunk into a glass, while I poured mineral water in it. So yes the bubbles are from mineral water. Thanks for all the kind words, and I'm glad I can stir feelings in people through my photography.
