I was bored the other night and suddenly felt like drawing Jim Crow from Disney's Dumbo. He's such an awesome little crow.
The pose is from a screencap of the scene. Not re-drawn exactly of course (where's the fun in that?) but fairly close. :3
He was voiced by Cliff Edwards, who was also the voice of Jiminy Cricket in Pinocchio.
He was animated by the great and eccentric Ward Kimball, who also animated Jiminy Cricket. I guess some people just work together well! Hehe.

I don't care what people say! The crows are my favorite characters from "Dumbo". The scene with them is literally the only truly upbeat sequence in that movie.

I like to think that his name's some kind of anti-racism joke; if you think about it, it makes sense for the crows to represent southern black people 'cause that way, they're able to sympathize with Dumbo on being an outsider.

I liked these crows. Despite the crap they get for being "racist." As a half black man who grew up watching these, I never felt offended. I thought he was cool. He had swagger

I'm not ignorant of them. I just have better things to do than be offended by a fucking DISNEY MOVIE!! And when I said "And quite frankly, compared to some of the black people I've had to put up with, These crows are actually a compliment That's not an insult to black people in general. Just that I've lived in areas with black people that act very much like terrible caricatures that are even worse than anything in any Disney movie.

The reason people find the Crows racist is just because of Jim Crow's name. (Look up Jim Crow Laws). But other than that they're fine characters.
