Description Goodbye, old William.

By the way, I'm still flabbergasted by how many readers I have for this little comic... may I ask y'all what you like about it?
I'd love to know so that maybe I can reciprocate whatever it is in the future.

I truly love this story...the characters are so engaging and the plot it so well written...well just saying this, I really hate reading anything because I find I have a hard time getting invested in a story...it really has to be something special for me to read it so consider I read your comic should constitute to a huge compliment in itself lol XD!

I've been having trouble finding good things to read myself, these days.
It's probably why I've spent so much time making up my own stories. ^.^

Yeah I've often thought about it myself...even started a little series of short stories just for fun but kind of left it after a while...mainly due to running out of good ideas to continue it :/! I might pick it up again one of these days though!

I love the story and the characters. It's tightly-plotted, with the glimpses back in time sliding in to help the character development, which is lovely and dynamic and well-rounded. Also, you've taught me worlds about what colour can do not only for mood but also on a symbolic story-telling level. (Plus your colours are always so darned pretty!)

I like it because I don't know what's going to happen and I can't wait to see what's coming next. Also, there's something unusual about it. Sonia is my favorite character. It would be interesting to read a comic from her point of view as well.

Like I said before, your art style is literally my favorite that I've seen yet, and the fact that it comes out so often, with a fantastic story. Just A+ work all around.

I'm intrigued by how you're using a "simple" art style to tell a deep but realistic story. Using animal characters helps too. I've always liked stories with animal characters.

DrZime In reply to meroe1313 [2013-01-31 23:39:18 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Whenever I look at other comics, and I see how complicated the art is compared to mine, I can't help but be a little jealous. I'm glad you like the simplicity - it makes me feel better about my simple little drawings.

meroe1313 In reply to DrZime [2013-01-31 23:42:08 +0000 UTC]

Keeping it simple allows you to upload it very quickly, which keeps it fresh in people's mind and moves the story along at a good pace. Those more complicated comics only update once a week, or maybe even once a month, which I find annoying. You forget what happened on the previous pages before the next update comes out!

My favorite thing about the comic is how fast you can produce it and still keep a unique style. So for me it's more about the mechanics than the story. I probably never would have read this comic except for the fact it's updated so frequently! I really want to experiment with my own comic style to see if I can update faster. To do so, I figure I need to break out the pencil and scanner like you did!

DrZime In reply to ryfvs [2013-01-30 19:44:32 +0000 UTC]

Updating does seem to be a big factor to me getting as many readers as I do. :0
Pencil + scanner = road to success!

i'm really drawn to the sketchy/ watercolor-like look of it, but also the tone you have set for this story. i have always been fascinated by war and the effects it has on people all over the world....... it's the little personal stories that really get to me too. William is perfect.

Your art is beautiful, and you're a good storyteller. Also, your story is really deep and meaningful yet clean enough so that a little child could read it. Being a teen, I appreciate that, because it's like you're assuming I can enjoy a good story without having to throw in a bunch of dirty content.

And Sonia is awesome.

There. That's my highly professional assessment of this comic.

(Takes a bow.)

DrZime In reply to Carol-Lizzy [2013-01-30 00:29:34 +0000 UTC]

I have some friends/family who make fun of me for liking clean stories better than ones with dirty content. As if when you're an adult you have to only like things with sex and violence. Humbug!
It's more than a little annoying. >:C

So, thanks! I'm happy there are other adults and teens who still believe that there are stories any age can enjoy.

Carol-Lizzy In reply to DrZime [2013-01-30 02:37:02 +0000 UTC]

DystopianUtahraptor [2013-01-29 23:19:05 +0000 UTC]

I love the characters, the story, the art, everything about this.

Not often you find real honest-to-God romance building in a story anymore. It has a sort of innocence to it that you just can't find anywhere else nowadays.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DrZime In reply to DystopianUtahraptor [2013-01-29 23:27:26 +0000 UTC]

There does seem to be a lack of romance building, now that you mention it. :0 People in movies and comics just tend to run into each other's mouths without even knowing each other.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DystopianUtahraptor In reply to DrZime [2013-01-29 23:58:52 +0000 UTC]

Right?

Even romantic comedies are more all about the 'when are they going to have sex!' as opposed to the 'where is it that they actually fall in love' anymore and that's sad. I understand it's a base instinct, but c'mon, guys. Seriously? We're human beings and can exercise a lot more control than that. Be a bit freakin' picky!

But ja. That aside, I really do enjoy MtRC for that aspect of lost actual romance. Keep it up, it's refreshing!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DrZime In reply to DystopianUtahraptor [2013-01-30 00:30:52 +0000 UTC]

It must be because so many people think they're being "edgy" by having people just jump into bed together. >:C
A lot of us need more than that to enjoy a good story.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DystopianUtahraptor In reply to DrZime [2013-01-30 01:06:01 +0000 UTC]

Damn straight. I mean .... I've read stories (that weren't trashy romance novels) where the juicy tidbits come first and the rest of the book is spent with the couple getting to know one another more. I am okay with that. It's the 'we met yesterday then had sex the next night and that's the end!' that I tend to avoid for obvious reasons XD

All in all, keep up the good work!

RoyalRoses [2013-01-29 22:25:51 +0000 UTC]

What I have to love about it is the characters themselves.
They are beyond different from any I have seen before, so its original and I loved it.
Background story I also like to because it does relate to reality wise as well.
My favorite so far is William and Sonia, but mostly Sonia since I can understand her situation and such.

DrZime In reply to RoyalRoses [2013-01-29 23:25:56 +0000 UTC]
