although, as far as i know this is not and original work, it is done in a style that gives the original some impact, with just the use of light and dark (or perhaps black and white) the artist is tasked with using light correctly, this is made quite difficult, don't be fooled by this 'copy' there is a lot of work in this , there is evidence of 'building up' of depth and even the strokes of the charcoal (?) have been used to great effect, the hardest part is the total lack of light in the centre bottom of this piece and then the building of the right leg silhouette, this would take some thought as i suppose it would be quite easy to mess this up . summing up this is not a totally original work as it has some reference, but i think this is a good execution of the work. Plus its one of my favourite characters of all time (which helps)

The reference was a promotional image for Batman Begins and I chose to do it because of the light and dark you mentioned and I figured it would be a simple practice of charcoal. It turned out to be tougher than I thought. I did it in 2H pencil first and then went over it in charcoal. I feel I could do much better but then again I'm never satisfied with my work. I think the toughest part for me was getting the exposed part of the face to look like Christian Bale and I hope I succeeded in that. Your critique is spot-on but unlike the last sentence, Batman IS my favorite character of all time lol.

wow. I really enjoy this one. The only thing that doesn't work so well is the part of the cape where he's grabbing it. Other than that, it looks pretty amazing. The expressive background is just perfect for the detailed batman. And the light.. Oh, the part where the birds are flying, you just have to love that.

So are you. But not a little unsure just terrified, and not mediocre but terrible. Which would explain why you have been on this site now for 5 months and have yet to upload a piece of art. No you're here to favorite and most likely right click and save all of the nude pictures you can find, which you can do if you just do a Google search. I'm also sure you're also making ridiculous comments on other artworks you find as well. For someone who claims Americans aren't heroes I do find it ironic that your profile says you live in the United States. And to top it all off, that looks like Adolf Hitler's hand in your profile picture. Hitler, the same coward who fled from the very war he started. Hitler, the same coward who turned the swastika, a symbol of peace, into a symbol that means many horrid things for different people. Hitler, the same coward who believed in a blonde-haired, blue-eyed master race he clearly didn't resemble. You sir, are a waste of human life.

The concept of American superheroes are far from boring, especially a character with such complexities as Batman. So no, the charcoal did not go to waste.

Thanks for the fave, I have to disagree though, I think Bale has been the perfect Bruce Wayne/ Batman.

You can think Bale is the best and I can think Keaton is the best, but that's okay. Because we are different.
