I once thought it was because of me,
I once thought it was how it's supposed to be.
I once thought I could run and be free,
I once thought there was more than what I see.

I could have grown up in a different way,
I could have grown up to believe what they say.
I could have been the one that would play,
I could have had a life each day.

I was a person who could do more than survive,
I was a person who could feel alive.
I was a little girl, deprived
I was a person, who would soon arrive.

I am a thing who is stuck in the past,
I am a thing who might not last.
I am a survivor, with my heart in a cast,
I am a woman, who is ready to heal fast.
