I used to watch cartoons and sitcoms where the main characters had imaginations
They would dream themselves kings, or dream that they would ALWAYS get the girl
I would laugh
Say that I was too good for that
Too down to earth

Then, when I became a teenager, I learned that I'm an asshole
Whoops

I like to imagine things about myself
About what I'll be in the future
The ideas change every few months

First, I was the greatest writer ever
People would beg me to help write their stories
People would see my name in the credits and freak out
There would be whole conventions dedicated to my work
Fans would hang on my every word
I would live in a nice apartment, writing, writing, writing

Whoops

Then, I was a director
Action movies were my game
Explosions
Fighting
Robots
No love, though
My heroes would have no time for dames!
I won Oscars every time
Box offices would explode

Whoops

Then, I was the president
I hoped that I would be elected at a time of peace
That way I wouldn't have to kill anybody
I would ensure equal rights for all
And give rousing speeches
Textbooks for years to come would be filled with my quotes
MSNBC would love me
And after I left office, I'd go on talk shows, and tell jokes!
I'd be a guest on Chelsea Lately, right next to Ross Matthews
I would be the greatest president of all time

Whoops

Then, I hosted a radio show
And since no one saw my face, I could say whatever I wanted
No need to hide
I'd get mad when I wanted
Cry when I wanted
I'd call everyone at MSNBC and Fox News an idiot
And people would compare me to Rush Limbaugh when they listened to me
But when they really met me, they'd see that I'm the nicest guy ever!
Everyone would listen to my opinions on the issues

Even if I'm just a set of fictional Mary Sues
I like my imagination
It's a blessing in disguise
