Hold on, are you talking about the last two examples? Because everything is off in those ones.
In the first one, everything that isn't green is in greyscale, and in the second one, everything is a shade of green. It's not changing your character's appearance at all - the whole comic would have a different colour scheme.

Though, I prefer the speech bubble being white/paler.

I can always mix and match - like have white speech bubbles with the colour splash.

You should try; adding colour to highlight certain things and leaving the rest black and white. (not saying it'll work or anything. But hey).
And only adding one colour. Like, those comics in black white and red?
