Description I'm in another one of those weird phases where every one of my pics turns out in a different style.

A quick explanation..
This is my Elyos Ranger Soul. Yes, Ranger. She is in the Eye of Reshanta, saying a prayer for her predecessor (Soul the Asmodian Ranger .) In a tribute to my original character Kalrin , Soul has cloth Abyss pauldrons despite being a Ranger. Her leggings are leather, remodeled.

RP Perspective
E-Soul feels drawn to the Eye of Reshanta, because it was one A-Soul's favourite haunts prior to her fall. It is only fitting that where one Soul ended, the new should eventually return. When I was designing E-Soul's appearance I had originally intended it to be almost identical to A-Soul (same hair, expression, proportions) - however that got thrown out the window when I drew Refrain in a fit of inspiration a few days after. I had long had difficulties drawing A-Soul's face due to the hair. Long free-falling hair is much more dynamic, and more fun to draw. I kept the silver leaves tattoo shown on that drawing and incorporated it into E-Soul's back story. Her outfit resemblance to Kalrin's 30s outfit came more or less by chance. I was unable to find a leather skirt that matched the Flash Jerkin, so I ended up using the cloth fashion reskin. The pauldrons kind of invited themselves.

A-Soul's existence was driven by vengeance, a struggle for survival, and desire to be accepted as a skilled Ranger. This was shown by her aggressive and/or emotionless face. What came first? Did one cause the other?

I did something different with E-Soul. This character was my manifestation of triumph and risk-taking. The willingness to adapt and to consider my real goals in playing Aion. E-Soul is a lot more demure and pleasant, although her eyes still retain the characteristic seriousness. She's able to take things in perspective and stay calm, but at the same time is still cautious and thinks about everything that is going on.

Thanks! This pic was actually what I would consider experimental. I like the style I used, especially on the hair, but I haven't replicated it since.

You really have a lot of different styles and I find that really impressive! The fact that you seem to be able to master cell-shading, soft shading, painting effects, etc. is just plain awesome

Those wings on that armor are quite bitchin'. reminds me of what you see a lot on illustrations of deva characters in 4.0 D&D

Read the Artist's Comments section. ;]

In a way, she's both. I used to have an Asmodian Ranger that I leveled all the way to 50 and got pretty geared out (although no Fenris, sadly.) I ended up completely DELETING that character and rerolling Elyos Ranger on the same server to play with some friends. I still feel very emotionally attached to my Asmo Ranger, though. In the original incarnation of this drawing my character had a ghostly semitransparent tail and hybrid wings, but that's getting very specific and roleplay-heavy. I edited those out since I plan on submitting this piece on a couple of other sites and don't need/want them to have to understand the back story behind my chars.

Oh wow....either you must've gotten sick of Asmo side heavily or your friends on Elyos side must be very persuasive. I can't even imagine deleting my current lvl cap char...@_@

So your char's spiritual reincarnation to other faction or something?

Heh, yeah. I had a lot of different reasons for doing what I did.

My friend was actually trying to talk me out of it in the beginning, but when I wouldn't change my decision she did a 180 and completely supported it instead. (which is why I generally ask for a second opinion when I want advice.. since she tends to change her own.)

The top players I knew on Asmo side were very cliquey.. at that point I had pretty good pre-Fenris gear and an attack speed PvP weapon, but because I didn't have Fenris I would always be left out of small group PvP and Dredgion. They didn't bother to see if I was actually effective in PvP or not, they just judged me based on my (lack of) gear and the fact that there were better geared alternatives than me. So I got the short end of the stick. Ehh and that I wasn't trying to use my gender to my advantage. My char's gear progression had come to a standstill unless I procced Fenris pants, and I just wasn't having fun any more. It pissed me off big time and made me feel unwanted, which is one of my two main reasons why I rerolled. Most of the time people are never thankful for what they have, until they lose it permanently... the next time my Asmodian "friends" are hearing from me will be when I'm 50, decently geared again, and bursting them down in the Abyss.

Literal reincarnation I consider my Asmodian char and my Elyos char two separate characters, but of course they are still connected. My Elyos char just doesn't know how or why.

Bah..... :\ I get what you mean. It gets really depressing when people ask me first thing in group if I have Recovery Spell stigma. (I'm a chanter) =.=

Which server are you on btw?

Thank god stigmas will be sold at a vendor in 1.9, eh?

What's kind of funny/sad is that I was hanging out with the top geared players (I say gear, instead of skill, because that's the way Aion is ... and I have no way of really telling whether they are skilled or not. 1v1 against a sorc is unfair if I get them in a silence/stun lock, Fenris won't save them from my burst damage ) on Asmoside.. I know a lot about the politics and community stuff on our server, and it'll be a while before my info gets outdated since I still talk with a lot of my Asmo friends over MSN. (Of course, they don't tell me about their fort siege intel plans any more, but I can still keep tabs on guild dynamics and such.)

Oh shame. I was wondering if you were on Lumiel since you mentioned roleplay whatnot.

And yes, thank Shedim lords for stigma vendors. -.-

haha, I like creating roleplay profiles and back stories for my characters, but I don't actually do any in-game (or otherwise) roleplaying. They're just characters, with a story and motivation, that I can connect to and use as subjects when I draw. :]
