Description This is a hairstyle I did to go along with my period appropriate outfit for a Victorian day camp program: [link]

I call it semi-Victorian because while it was inspired by photos and drawings of actual hairstyles, I did not follow period directions.

How-To:
I sectioned off some hair from the front of each side. Then divided the rest of my hair into two larger section.
I separated the two back sections again leaving the hair closest to my neck hanging down as one section and keeping the rest of the hair on either side separate.
The large sections of hair on either side I braided and pinned the end of each braid to the beginning of the opposite braid. I also pinned down any hair sticking up from the ends.
I pulled the hair hanging down under the braids over the braids and tucked the ends down under and inside. I pinned this all into place.
I curled the front sections that were still hanging down and then pined the curls so they completely covered the braids and rolls of hair.

I do similar things with my hair everyday... so I might start putting up more hairstyle deviations with photos of each step in the process.

It looks gorgeous. Far more complex that I’d thought - from the photo of the dress, I’d assumed you’d just done two plaits, crossed them over and pinned them up. The curls add a lovely, softly romantic touch.

And you say you do similar stuff every day? Wow, my hair gets its daily brush-and-scoop-into-a-ponytail and it’s lucky to get even that! XP

Thanks! Yeah, I do similar things... but usually without the curls.
