Description Princess Madelyn, protector of the forest, focuses on her possible target as she determines if it is friend or foe.

This was a fun image to create. It was an idea I had for a while, I just needed the right inspiration to create it. Madelyn of G3F was the inspiration. I modified shader settings and her face/shape quite a bit, but you can still see some of the original character. Her outfit is actually bits and pieces of 5 different outfits. I also had to modify the hair shader setting quite a bit to reduce the "helmet hair" effect, not as good as I wanted, but usable now (usually using UTH shaders works perfectly, but for some reason not with this hair).

The scene is Willow Creek from Stone Mason. I used 2 Iray sectional planes to let light into the scene from the default HDRI. This made the forest behind Madelyn too light/bright. The obvious answer would have been to just light the scene with a couple of mesh light and 2 or 3 spot lights. Why do easy when you can get creative? I used a fog dome, and made the fog a dark blue/purple color to give the appropriate darkness to the forest in the background. The only post work done was to adjust levels, add a touch of unsharp mask, and add the signature.

Scene set up and rendered in DAZ Studio 4.12.x Beta using Iray

Thanks for stopping by!! Oh, as usual, please click on the image to see it at full resolution the see the details (4K image).

Very well done, especially her apprehensive expression.

Thought it does remind me of this... www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtoBFX…

Thanks for the comment and the link, it was hilarious!

Yeah, I shot re-curve bow for many years, so my arm/shoulder began to hurt just watching the video, but I was laughing so hard it didn't hurt much.

Nice start, but what is with the beads all over her face? (And how are they staying in place?)

????  But didn't you ......
Oh, I see, you edited your original post about the arrow being on the wrong side of the bow. Now my first response looks kind of like:

Just in case things change again

Well, I guess it's a style thing?? Maybe they are magic beads that automatically stay where you want them, or maybe she used super glue??? Yeah, the "magic" beads kind of bothered me, but I liked the interesting visual look they give, so I went ahead and finally used them. Besides, it is a fantasy image, so just maybe Princess Madelyn does have magic powers? Or, maybe the beads are a source of her power?

Just a side note, this image

that you favorited is the same outfit the bow, arrows, and face beads came from in my image, and Trollx3D  used the face beads in the image (though they are hard to see due to the size of the image)

Thanks again!!

Note: Edited comment to change "used" to "is" and to remove a ",". I'm definitely writing challenged today!!

Yes, I took a second look. As for the beads, I didn't comment on them on the render I faved because I faved it for the depiction of archery. I would rather have had a clear view of your archer's face (I also don't like tattoos and "warpaint" either).

Thanks!
Hmmm, you had me worried for a minute (had to double check to make sure, I'm ambidextrous and slightly dyslexic, so I do make mistakes some times  ), but she's holding it the way I was taught. She's has the arrow on the proper side of the bow for a lefty, the arrow always goes on the opposite side of the bow from the draw arm. The bow in the scene doesn't have an arrow shelf, but I just noticed that the angle of the image is creating a slight illusion of an arrow shelf on the opposite side from the arrow, should have had you look at it before submitting, and I would have changed the view angle to clear up any confusion

Here is a quick photo reference on a long bow: archershub.com/wp-content/uplo…
