fantastic; such penetrating eyes; some how DaVinvi comes to mind - such a powerful image from so few lines

The style matches Whitman's writing well.

Thanks again. When I read Garcia's "Ode to Walt Whitman" recently and understood that Whitman was the flagbearer of "man love"(hidden) and that Garcia was actually killed(1938)for his(open) homosexuality, i did this piece in honor of that price Garcia paid. Butterfly("mariposa") was a code word for "gay". By writing, " a beard full of butterflies ", Garcia was outing Whitman with due honor.
Fascinating story to me... then add the fact that Salvador Dali and Garcia were lovers..
it was cold in the studio last week, painting butterflies in a portrait was enjoyable.

thank you, this piece is the result of reading the connection between the Frederico Garcia Lorca and Walt Whitman lately and..... "they" made me do it,...... fascinating to me, since, Lorca was killed for his homosexuality and Whitman wrote about his man love openly but denied his homosexuality. I admire both of them.
