Too big pictures act sometimes like this. You can still view it by clicking "Download Image" button on the right (it doesn't actually make you download the image; it just opens its bigger version in another window).

I used them to generate the cumulative frequency of distribution, it's not really easy to read but it shows interesting features over the time: [link]

Most impressive work, I must say! My only real complaint about the presentation of the data is that it would've made more sense to use a grouped bar graph or something similar. A line graph is ideal for when your Y axis is a continuous metric like time - the line segments act as a visual interpolation of the sampling points and an approximation of the data that would fall between those points. In this instance, your Y axis is a discrete metric (episode number), and each position along that axis has no meaningful relation to the one before or after it; thus, the connecting line segments only serve to add visual clutter and distract from the actual data points.
This sort of thing takes a lot of dedication to put together, though, and I applaud you for that! Pretty neat to see how the characters get handled throughout the season.

dziadek1990 In reply to Beatfox [2012-02-24 08:59:27 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, but the lines connecting the points in episodes make it easier to track each character's screentime; imagine how it would be painful to the eyes if there were so many bars or just points. Bars in 3d would make it also mor difficult to compare side-by-side so many characters - unless you could rotate them in 3 dimensions.

Łał, stary (no pun intended), wymiatasz! A ty to zrobiłeś. Kurczę, jesteś mistrzem! Chylę czapki.
Planujesz tak kiedyś przemaglować drugi sezon? ; )

dziadek1990 In reply to cygaj [2012-02-24 08:55:01 +0000 UTC]
Drugi sezon też zanalizuję, ale wpierw chyba inne ciekawostki statystyczne sobie zbadam: ciekawostki demograficzne Ponyville - populacja, ilość konkretnych instytucji wymaganych by zaspokoić potrzeby mieszkańców, statystyki śmierci mieszkańców, ekonomia. itp.

Powodzenia! I ze studiami, i z demografią Ponyville. Oszacuj populację, a będę klękać. Ciekawa jestem, co zrobisz z klonami i ze zjawiskiem związanym z całkowitym wyludnieniem miasta ("May the Best Pet Win" - pewnie było święto, albo godzina policyjna). I czemu nikt nie korzysta z biblioteki? To smutne.
