I know that is the look I get when I am interrupted, or some kid's day just got a whole lot worse on so many levels and they caused it. I work with kids, I get where Severus is coming from, I mean I work with young kids, he has to work with teens. Let that sink in, he works with teens, who insult him all the time (yes Harry does and yes it does hurt Severus's feelings even if he does not show it) and so I know that look of doom well, some kid's life is going to get worse and the kid probably deserves it.

I like them, and like working with them, for it is far, far better than customer service, with kids you can teach and train them. Though there are days that well, the little darlings are going to get shipped to a zoo or Siberia and their parents will agree with me on that. At least I don't have to deal with teens, man oh man those darling children make me want to give them a good swift kick in the rear (though I am far above really doing that).
The children I don't like are the whiny, get-what-ever they want, run around with no parents to stop them children. The healthy eight-year old still throwing tantrums because he can get what he wants (Dudley throwing fits at ten well, if he were my kid he would have a trip over my knee, a grounding and be required to do lines, not get what he wanted).
I do understand not liking children though, some people are not hard wired to want to be around them and need peace and quiet away from them. Which is why I am on board with child free places as I am sure Severus would be too. If he were real he and I could have some real laughs about children in our care and become good friends, as we both know the struggle.

It's nice that you like your job I guess.
For me it is probably less real dislike of children and more the dislike for the responsibilities you have when you look after a child. and the fact that they need constant attention. and that you mostly can't just give them back, when they're your own, or turn them off like some kind of radio when they're too loud.
I'm barely able to take care of myself, caring for a child would be a disaster
And I think Snape would be totally on board to gossip about his students.

No I get where you are coming from, I do, and that is why I am all for child-free zones, not everyone wants kids around, even those of us who work with or have them, lol.
But yea, Snape well, got to love him for even working with teens, now that would drive me nuts! I believe that a teen should be working or at least studying most of the time to keep them out of trouble. The old saying a bored teen leads to mischief and not in a good way is so true.
I feel for teachers who have to deal with teens.
