My last holiday was a month in Sicily, in 2003, and it was paid for by a friend I stayed with, a few miles away from Mt. Etna. She was still erupting at the time. AMAZING.

A friend of Robertta's was the Chief Volcanologist, and he took both of us up to a height of 11,000 ft, about 1,000 ft from the summit. Over recent years, Etna has lost height, and is now around 10,900ft high.
I have a number of lava bombs, from ones I can hold in my hand to a couple that weigh in at just over 5kilos. EOWhen I returned to the UK, I had to pay a lot for excess baggage

I can imagine you did, when Mt St Helens in oregon blew years ago the ash went all over, some people even made places and glass ware out of it!
