THREE: BECOMING A WOMAN

Time passed, though little it had seemed an age and you had learnt so much within that time. Your Norse speech had improved and you had finally had a chance to step outside and learn what the other Viking women did. It surprised you, a couple were flirtatious with any man they met because their own husband was one raid, some were naggy about their husband's appearances, a good deal controlled the Thrall, and to your total surprise it seemed the women held most of the power until their men returned from raiding; even then the man was usually too exhausted to want to manage everything.

Your education had become apparent; a Viking man fought and gained wealth, a Viking woman maintained the home and the servants. You learnt too that a Viking man could have as many wives as he could set up home for, and that the women could divorce for any number of reasons. One Viking woman even told you she'd divorced her last three husbands because they refused to shave or at least trim their chest hair. It was quite a turn around from your obedience as a Celtic girl.

Your husband also seemed to be rather more eager for you to find your place, he bought you gifts every time you had come back from the traders with useful things or done something to improve the home. One day he'd even bought you a rugged black pony to help out with your duties and give you something that was valuable. Black horses were uncommon around here, save the small ponies given by Iceland, and yours was apparently bought from Wales!

You did not need to want for anything and overall the Thralls were eager to listen to you and surprised that you enjoyed helping out if it seemed right. Some of the other Viking wives would scold you for letting the Thralls seem so equal, but in the end your Thralls were quite thankful to have someone more useful around that actually knew what was needed. That had all been something you'd learnt with your father, however one item no one had taught you was weaving.

Your duty was supposed to include weaving of some kind to make art for the family longhouse or to tell stories. You'd done some forms of sewing at home but this was using a kind of weave that was blank and waiting for you alone to decide it. You'd attempted the first few times to weave your partner, but been forced to unpick the threads each time because he'd ended up making him look like a splodge on a boring background. So to be honest you were not good at it, and only made a show of attempting when Sweden would come and ask.

One night you had found yourself waking from the depths of sleep to shudder heavily. You felt really cold and began to mutter to yourself. As you at up you spotted that the fire that had kept you warm in your bedroom area was out, and a frost was forming on the edges of the chimney. Automatically you stood up and shuffled over to the other side of the room where your goat and two ponies stood close together snorting thick clouds of steam.

"The frost clings to the air this night.... It is not good to stay out of bed." You started and bolted around, holding a fur tightly around your shoulders for warmth. You breathed a sigh of relief to see Sweden standing tall and calm beside you; you could feel a strong heat around him and without thought turned around to press into his warm body. You were surprised to find that your body was contacting warm bare flesh, not clothes.

You looked up at him with pleading eyes, begging for more warmth and for the first time since he'd brought you here, you wanted him too. Something had change inside you, something that had understood that now you were a part of this society, you had the choice to say no and the choice to fall in love with another. Though your Christian beliefs screamed wedding vows around your head, being a virgin here was not counted as important if you wanted to marry again. You pressed your lips to his chest in a gentle kiss that made his body ripple in delight and his hands close around you.

"I'm ready now.... I know that you chose me for who I was, not just because you needed a wife." You muttered softly, love was a very hard thing to find but even if love could not be fully held by you, a part of you guessed that it had been his. Part of you had already understood the moment he released you when you were not ready, that this was about more then just the need to have a wife.... It was for more and you were hoping that the warmth you felt pressed to his body was also from your own affection toward the silent warrior.

Without a pause the blonde giant hooked his arms around your waist and pulled you up a little to press his lips to yours. The kiss was captivating, a little more restrained as you guessed he did not want to scare you, and as it occurred you stretched your arms around his neck. When your lips separated his hoisted you into his arms and carried you to the bed. He laid you down and you relaxed as he slowly removed the clothes from your body and stared at your naked, cold frame.

Once more his lips touched yours and with it he removed the remnant of his own clothes and lifted himself over you. At first you flinched, afraid of his great weight pressing on you, but though he kissed at your neck tenderly, his hand gripped at your thighs firmly and you felt strangely secure. He was going to do whatever he could not to hurt you, and as you explored his thick biceps and beautiful chest, his mouth pressed along the centre of your body, down past your belly, to kiss above your womanhood. You blushed visibly, unsure of how to react and turned your head to the side.

Sweden suddenly leant forward to turn you to face him, he kissed you forehead tenderly before stroking the side of your face. Your ___ eyes locked against his wild blue ones, and you sighed gently. Perhaps it was love for you too, still you were quite unsure, but as you stared into his eyes you seemed blissfully unaware of how easily your body opened for him and all too soon you were joined in flesh.

The motions were slow, gentle, and yet a little painful to your virgin form. You tried hard not to loose eye contact with your husband, though at points you felt lured into looking. He kept himself above you, but steadied his hands against the bed to carry his weight, he did not crush you. Motions became easier, slicker, and faster. The moment the tightness and tension released from your body, a more intense feeling began to build up inside. Any pain was ignored, not obvious against the sudden pleasures of his thrusting body and the heart that pounded within your ears. Vision blurred, your tongue lolled as your mouth remained agape. Your body stretched out more, easing each muscle to not clench or cramp, and the moment your hands gripped hardly around his level wrists, the energy you needed was gone and the pleasure absorbed you....
