Always when I thought about apocalypse as the rebel of robots i was like "meh creations can't defeat creators" but then I saw this image and suddenly came to me... What if machines could be able to create themselves?
Great job with this one. I like this grim and creepy atmosphere of the scene.👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thank you! Self replicating machines would be terrifying. If you really think about it tho, We create machines then improve the machines making them faster and more adaptable. Then we model them after us and task them to perform human functions. Time passes technology improves so machines improve eventually machines become so sophisticated they can perform just as good as humans then slowly the line between machine and organism is erased. And your left with something like this.

Self-replication is one key aspect of life that machines have yet to duplicate, however - a Von Neumann cycle, as it's called, would require the machine to be able to construct more of itself upon creation. Current technology limits machines to following instructions that humans have programmed, and as computing power is still limited to processes less powerful than an insect, conscious evolution of machines seems unlikely. But, there is salvation for the machine in the form of the Singularity - a convergence of human and machine, as you suggest here. Beautiful subject, wickedly cool render; you've earned yourself a watch, sir.

Thank u very much for the watch! Based on your use of the word "singularity" and the context in which you used it I assume you are familiar with Ray Kurzwiel's thoughts on the future of technology, and the merging of man and machine.

I forgot to mention, there's also a series of Michi Kaku talks on the subject on BigThink.com (and an informal address to a group of futurists, on youtube) speculating just how this "merging" might occur. Thought you might be interested, all things considered.

Wow, amazing robot design, very unusual in a very positive way!!!
Is it going to evolve into some grasshopper-like creature? I mean because
this additional pair of growing limbs somehow reminds me of a grasshoppers'
hind legs.

I think it's the other way. It just reduces this spare limbs to adapt. It's one of ways how evolution works - improves mechanisms and makes it more effective by erasing the unnecessary parts to make it more effective.

Oh, yes, you're right! I haven't thought about it this way,
but that's the other possibility, of course.

I had a few different ideas I worked with for the extra limbs and my thoughts is that the last barb and the purple part would shoot out and act like a scorpion tail. Could be used for many purposes..
