I lived in Seattle for about 25 years, while I was an engineer at Boeing - got burned out with a desk job and moved to Oregon to windsurf - now I live near Hood River, ,in the Columbia Gorge about 70 miles east of Portland - a much quieter place to be - and quite scenic.
Vancouver's very nice also, but probably getting over-populated, like Seattle (at least for me) - I live in Mosier - 430 people, and 3rd world internet and electricity

Good on ya for getting out of the rat race. I've got 30+ years in and wish I could get out myself. I'm halfway getting there...my wife and I have a cottage in Tofino...on the west coast of Vancouver Island. We'll probably retire out there sometime. We're actually there right now, since Christmas Eve. It sounds a bit like Mosier...we've had two power outages this stay.

I really like the almost mountainous landscape. It's view is wonderful, it gives the beauty of the land and look almost real. Great job!
