She's the underdog in the story. There's also a character who's a Dim Mak master and she can cause people to lose consciousness if she attacks the right blood vessels.
Also, some characters are strong enough to break her quills entirely.

She has no added strength or speed. All she has is her boxing training and her quills. So against weaker opponents, sure, it can seem unfair but now that she's in a professional league, she's fighting martial artists who can break through or divert of defenses.

This is a great drawing and idea. However shouldn't she produce bone spikes instead of porcupine quills? Since protean in the body I would assume make the bones stronger etc.. This art style reminds me of a anime called Shoot fighter Tekken.

Actually, turns out that porcupine quills are made out of keratin which is made of protein. even if quills aren't as strong as bone, being pierced with a quill is still pretty painful so it's very effective in her combat techniques. Of course, how she produces porcupine quills is till science fiction. All of my fighter characters have some animal like abilities.
