Description I'm particularly proud of this illustration. Since I was a child, I've been a fan of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (first, of Walt Disney's movie, and, years later, of the book, and I wanted to draw a portrait of the Queen of Hearts.

In my opinion, the original illustrations by John Tenniel [link] are spectacular, and I've tried to be faithful to his representation of the Queen in the book. Once I finished, I realized how much resemblance this character has to Queen Victoria. [link]

the patterns and colors really are spectacular-- definitely reminiscent of a "traditional" playing card. even before looking at your comments, i thought of how much it reminded me of the original illustration of the queen. very nicely done!

Thanks a lot, alaisiaga!

Yes, when I draw a character from a book, I always try to stay true to the description given by the author. In this case there were Tenniel's drawings, so I used them also as reference.

As I said, I'm a big fan of that book, so I guess I'll draw some more. But a whole set of cards is maybe too much

Thanks, snapesgirl34!

The patterns, particularly, were the most painstaking part of the illustration.
