Despite his condition, Van insists in making something usefull out of his life. His passion for books and knowledge took him to a small library not too far from where he lives. When not under his curse, he delights himself in the corridors of books, doing what he does best: studying, and sometimes helping others with the books.

S t r e n g t h s / W e a k n e s s e s
Van's expertise is knowledge, and his love for learning. He already knows a lot of things and is always keen on learning more. Though there's some down sides to it. Despite knowing how things work, he's not very skilled with his hands. He's also clueless about how people work. Not their insides, but their feelings and expressions and speech. He doesn't understand people, since it's not exactly something you can learn from books.

Fighting wise, he's not very skilled either. He's very light on his feet, but he's not strong nor does he have a lot of stamina. He gets tired very easily, even in his cursed form. Although, he's very intelligent and often gets out of trouble by using his head. Knowing how most people usually ran from his cursed form, he didn't think he'd need to do any workout to be stronger. That, and he was too lazy to.

As a human, he's not that different from other people, despite knowing nothing on how to bond with them. He's an excelent cook despite not being something he likes to do. Most of the times he's just lazy. Though when in need, he can come up with the most delicious dishes, following recipes he made himself.

P e r s o n a l i t y
Van is a very reserved person. He prefers to leave his thoughts to himself, making him look like he has something to hide. On the contrary, he just doesn't trust people enough to share his ideals. He never does anything he might regret later because he always thinks about it twice, or even a third time if needed.

Since he was little he developed a love for reading and learning. His IQ is a little over the average and because of that, he's always wanting to learn more. He believes there's always something new to discover, so he often gets upset when finding things he already knows. Not only does he like to learn, but he likes to teach as well. The few times he might sprout a smile would be when teaching something he knows much about.

But even if he's a very intelligent person, Van's not very good with relationships. He has no idea what personal space is and might often mistake one's actions towards him. For example, when flattered, he tends to react the opposite way, thinking said person is making fun of him. "Why isn't there books on this?!"

Despite being the kind of person who likes to be alone in his place, he feels lonely sometimes. That's when he searches for other people to be with. Even if he'll never admit it afterwards. He'll come up with the most weird excuses and might even blame the person for it. But because he hardly regrets what he does, he hardly gets embarrassed. Except when dealing with people he feels comfortable with.

Although he might seem cold and distant, he has a very kind heart. He's always up to help people, even if it's beyond his reach. He cares for other people, even though it doesn't seem like so. That's because he prefers to 'help' when other people isn't watching. He doesn't like to be the center of the attentions.

"Van" had a very normal childhood in in his hometown, Fahlenwood, where he was born in. His parents were very caring towards him and never questioned the way he was. They did everything they could in their reach to give him the best life one could have, even if they didn't have much money. His love for learning started when he was but a toddler. He questioned his parents about the world and things he saw ever since he learned to speak properly and make simple sentences. His father, a knight, worked hard to keep his family together over the years, and "Van" admired him for that. He'd come late for dinner or disappear for days but when he came home, he made sure everything was fine with his son. "Van" always looked up to his father, even if he wasn't always there.

His mother didn't have a job to stay at home, taking care of her child. She was very strict but loving. Their house always had to be sparkling and clean, but she never took her attention away from him. But despite having caring parents, "Van" didn't have much friends. Because he had to have special classes due to his IQ, he never had time to make friends with other kids. He never felt upset because of this, but he did feel lonely sometimes. Across the years, he eventually met a few people and made friends, even though none of them stuck with him afterwards.

When he was fifteen, his life changed drastically. His father lost his spot as a knight due to an accident that took him his sight, and they had to find ways to put food on the table. Eventually, his mother found a decent job as a nanny, but "Van" wanted to help too. After school, he had a small part time job on a tavern. Since he wasn't a very active person, he would always trip or drop something when working.

But things at home weren't better. His father had succumbed to a deep depression and his wife did everything she could to bring him back to life. Seeing how his father, the person he looked up the most, had so quickly lost himself, "Van" decided to make something to make his father proud and eventually lighten up his mood. So he decided to apply as a soldier for war. But because he was weak, he decided to train hard everyday so he could pass the physical tests. All the while, he kept his job at the tavern to help his parents. One year later he applied, but he didn't succeed. He failed to be the person he wanted to be for his father.

"Van" ran away in shame, not wanting to give the news to his family. He ended up getting lost in the woods, something that would be impossible to happen since he was very smart. He quickly understood that he was under a spell, and found its sorce: a voodoo witchdoctor. As the sly teen he was, he was able to fool the man into making him a spell to forsee his future, wanting to know how his parents would react if their son told them he failed the tests. Though the spell had a price, and "Van" fell under a curse that would turn him into a beast when he last expected it. In a fit of rage, he atracked the man and killed him. He hid in the forest, at the witchdoctor's cottage, and as years passed by, he slowly forgot his name, his family, his life.

One day, he decided to leave the house and explore for a bit. He noticed how things had changed while he was asleep in his own grief. He entered a small library in a small town close to the woods. Recalling how much he loved books and to read them, he decided to take a fresh start and asked to work there, explaining in his own weird way that he had a "small" condition that forced him to leave his place at work at random times. The old man didn't seem to mind it, since he actually enjoyed the young man's company, when he was around. So then, his new life began.

- Likes to have an organized schedule for the week, even if he can't always follow it due to his curse.

- Is very fragile and has low stamina. Gets tired easily and can't lift very heavy weights despite his year of intensive training.

- Likes to read better on the floor and uses weird positions to do so.

- Has Spring allergies.

- Curses in old ancient languages when annoyed.

- Since he's not in his human form that often, he decided to just take a blanket with him all times. He found the routine of ripping clothes when transforming to be too much trouble.

- He never knows when he'll transform, and tends to run from people when in his cursed form.
