Lonely. There was no other way to describe it. Sure there was Azula and her friends, but he could only handle them in small doses and still maintain his sanity. No, this was the time he always spent with his mother. In the garden in the mid-afternoon sun, they would sit together and feed the turtleducks.

But not anymore. She was gone. Not only did he not know where she went, but he didn’t even know why she went. Was it him? No, it wasn’t—what was it she’d said? “Everything I’ve done, I’ve done to protect you.” No, it definitely wasn’t him.

The turtleducks quacked along chasing their mother’s tail. Why couldn’t he be like one of them? Happy, carefree? He knew he wouldn’t have that, not anymore.

Because his mother, was gone.

Re-submition in full color! Yay! "Defining Moments-Zuko: Gone." I changed the title as well. I felt "gone" was a more fitting title than the previous "disappearance."

Please ignore the half-assed background and any incosistencies...what can I say...I got lazy.
