Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!Yes, it is that time of year again. I present my Christmas doodle of the year. I broke tradition this year. Instead of making the chibi cards, she was drawn. This little elf girl was in a thought or a daydream of mine. I saw her for a few seconds but I knew then that I wanted to draw her. Fael actually wasn't going to be a Christmas drawing but I started to color her and decided that it was already very Christmasy so I rolled with it.
This is done in colored pencils, ink, and PS. I love my colored pencils. I have fallen in love with them once again.

Thank you! I knew that I wanted the snow stuff but I didn't know how to accomplish that effect with the pencils so I gave up and went for the Photoshop. However, now I think I know how to accomplish something like that.

What brand/kind of colored pencil do you use? The colors don't look all that waxy so I'm sure they're not prismas, but the value is great so it can't be roseart or crayola (lol)...

It's all good. There is a technique behind it to get those suckers to be less waxy. That and the paper makes a huge difference.

Hmm, I'll try using prismas on watercolor paper and see what I get. Idk, I'll expiment a little. ^^

I suggest avoiding anything really smooth. The rougher the paper, the better it lays. I haven't tried watercolor paper myself by I know people who have and they were alright with it. It is all personal preference. I personally love the Stanford papers. My friends like Stonehenge paper. I definitely didn't like Canson paper. Oh, and if you are wondering, these papers come in large sheets rather than a notebook of sorts. You can find them at an art store. Fael was drawn on some cardstock I have for printing but it does have a bit of a tooth (rough texture) on it. Oh! Sorry. I am rambling.
