Hey, that's lovely. Kiwi are great. Have you ever seen a moa at the museum? They're the giant version of the kiwi, sadly extinct but very cool...

elachrym In reply to lilfrog [2010-03-29 20:34:02 +0000 UTC]

I have not seen a taxidermied Moa, no. I would imagine it to be huge! Where would I find one?

Jester-Race [2007-03-08 19:35:33 +0000 UTC]

I favorited this quite awhile ago... but I don't think I ever actually commented on it.

I love the idea of anything part organic and part mechanical. The mechanical pieces that can be used in place of organic pieces (because of their shape or function) really do the job of turning something simple (such as a kiwi) into something twisted and a little freaky.

The cannon has to be my favorite part. Did you ever play Space Station: Silicon Valley for the Nintendo 64? There's a camel in that game with a cannon on it's back, similarly to this. Just wondering if that was an inspiration or not.

elachrym In reply to Jester-Race [2007-04-02 22:36:03 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the comment! I went through a definite biomechanical phase with my artwork, this being one of the first in the series. I am also a fan of the style. I never did play that game, no. I like the idea of a camel with a cannon, perhaps I'll have to revisit this style of work?

Jester-Race In reply to elachrym [2007-04-03 18:39:39 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I would like to see more. I'm going through that phase myself it seems... except mine are a little more on the macabre side.
