Description

In spite of several attempts, I especially suck about background as always. I wanted something of... empty, neutral, melancholy... keeping natural light (I find clichΓ©s about dead trees, evening light and similar filters so boring).

The opacity of the fog needs a bit more variance but the scene it self is entirely credible and doesn't look like an assembled piece from stock photos at all.

I take note about the fog.
I always try to make my photo manipulations "real" (although rooted in fantasy or with elements of fantasy), like true scenes indeed (reinforced by the fact that I rarely use additional filters or stuff like that). It demands good/high quality stocks as I work large sizes also.

Thank you.

Hi, when I wrote my first comment I was heading out the door. The Only part of your fog that I felt was weak was the line of it above the rocks and that was only noticeable because the fog on the other side of the ship looked more natural. The figures worked well together and unless stated as you did made a nice cohesive whole.

I made like that in order not to have the fog like a curtain (without a definite line). The idea was that the fog is... all around/behind (between fog and clouds), keeping the foreground neat. The other idea was to keep the focus on the foreground, the rest is oblivion... More concrete backgrounds was disturbing and didn't work as well as fog for the scene, I think.

No I like it <3
Looks very interesting.
I don't like the flower.
But your edit is really cool!

Thanks for the comment and the .
The flower is... what we leave behind... or what keeps us alive... ... It's important here anyway (it's not clear if the flower is left or found here, I mean).

Thanks (stocks, , comment).

I wanted to use more elements from your stock (the tree in the night, the fjord...), but... it didn't work here, I think. Later, perhaps.

Well, all of your elements work together beautifully.

Your decision to keep that background very pale, with little detail was ingenius. And I'm in love with that longboat.

If it's OK with you, I'd like to add you to my watches. I am a HUGE Beatles fan from, well, way back then.

Did you know today (6 October) is the 50th Anniversary of the UK release of Love Me Do? My hubby just showed me the article on MSN.

I think so. I try, anyway.

I wanted to keep the focus on the scene and details on the foreground... And something like "nothing lasts" behind... but without negative things or clichΓ©s. Just... the void.
I tried many things:
- mountains, clouds... but it implied night. I didn't want something dark. The scene is sufficient.
- or river and dead trees, cliffs... but oppressive...
- or psychedelic things (as nebula) ... but I love my photo manipulations looks like real.
Therefore, a massive fog is just what I found fine here.

Thank you for the .
And no problem for the watch, for sure. Thanks.

I know for Love Me Do, I read an article in a newspaper. If they decide to celebrate each song, it's not over. However, I prefer their end of carier, with great lyrics and songs (too much "boys band" earlier ).

Thank you so much for your comprehensive reply!

I totally agree about the fog. It was the perfect choice.

I grew up listening to the Beatles, and matured while their music shifted from their "boy band" feel to the iconic Sergeant Pepper, and later albums. I have found elements of their early stuff in those great later works, but when I look at their entire catalogue, I can hear the influence of their early works in all of their music.

What is interesting is that, when Love Me Do was recorded, Sir Paul McCartney was all of 19 or 20 years old. When they broke up, he was married, and nearing 30 years of age. It's like their music grew up with them. That might be one reason their music is so relatable. Their progression in music connects us with our own progression in life.

I think I must be having a Strawberry Fields Forever moment. That analogy was kind of deep...

I find their music becoming really interesting with Revolver. A lot of different lyrics and subjects and sounds of course. Sgt Pepper is their masterpiece. "A Day In The Life" is my favorite !

MicheleHansen In reply to ElderKitsune [2012-10-15 18:09:22 +0000 UTC]

Revolver was iconic. It also contained the song "Michelle" which is my actual first name.

What is even cooler is Michelle was written, and sung by Paul McCartney. Pretty Pauly was my favorite Beatle; I was so in love with him when I was a kid. Hard to believe he wrote it when he was only 16.

I know you are less fond of their early works, but I recommend you take a serious listen to one song: Yes It Is.
In my opinion, it is the finest display of their outstanding abilty in vocal harmony, and that piece is my all-time favorite.

From the earlier, I find "Yesterday" the most awesome. My favorite Beatles is... according my mood. They are equal for me. John, Paul and George have some great songs from their individual performances, but their sum "When they(We) Was Fab" is beyond that simple addition... The simple fact that 50 years later, they have so much fans again (and Paul has always an incredible energy).

Yesterday is such a masterpiece, it was included in my Music Theory textbook. According to music analysts, his melodies hearken to the great classical composers.

Have you had the chance to hear his Classical Albums? They are interesting collaborations, orchestrated by noted classical composers, and performed by the London Sympony Orchestra.

Adding classical works to his library is, in retrospect, no surprise.

Even at 70, he appears unstoppable, and willing to explore every musical form.

I forgot to mention "Yesterday" for this photo manipulation (as I listen to many things while I work), I think it works very well here.

I don't know his Classical Albums... but I'm remembering about a special version of Yesterday. A cappella. He was impressive.
