This piece was featured in the Darkstalkers 25th Anniversary Art Tribute. Yes, he needs the love. From what I have read, he isn't really popular at Capcom Japan, hence why he is excluded along with a majority of the DS cast in crossovers and the like.

Oh I know, right? Obviously their bias is skewed toward the females and Demitri (mostly for his genderbending Midnight Bliss). The rest of the cast gets shafted regularly. Jon could have appeared in so many previous crossovers, like Cross Edge (especially this one as Felicia was in it and there were enemy catgirls in it, so why not Jon to go with the enemy werewolves?), Marvel vs. Capcom 3 or Infinite, and either one of the Project X Zones.
I wish theyβd stop pretending the other Darkstalkers donβt even exist. -_-
