At first I thought this was very clever photo shopping, but reading the comments it makes since now, lol, I mean, for both to get the same color orange?
I really do like that they are slightly different in their posing. Still gives the mirror illusion but keeps them as separate characters. I really do love this picture X'D

This is a nice shot :3
The two of you are well placed and the costumes look very well made.
It'd be nice if you put more personality into the poses though... you can't till who is what character.
but other than that I love it <3

Thank you.
I wanted it to be difficult to tell them apart here, to play on the fact that they are the same save for the eyepatch- so that it looks like it's one cosplayer in front of a mirror, instead of two people in the same costume. ^_^

I haven't seen Air Gear, but when I first saw this image I thought you had placed the Cosplayer in front of a mirror...Very neat! Here is yet another example of when angles are used correctly!

I love the 'mirror' look, in fact when I look at it I have to remember there were two cosplayers- not one and a reflective surface.
Thanks!

The effect was done so well, you even trick yourself? sweet!
That says something, not only for your photography...but for their Cosplays as well. Did they work on these together or was this a happy coincidence?

They're actual flesh-and-blood twins, actually. ^_^ They worked on their costumes in tandem, and besides the eyepatch being on opposite eyes, they were pretty darn close to perfect copies. I'm usually pretty sad about the current state of good/well done/interesting hall cosplay, so when I saw them on friday I HAD to nab them for a shoot.

oooh...Twins! Cool!
I figured they had to have worked together most pople have widely different ideas on how costumes should work/be constructed. Take my yuuko for example, of all the versions I have seen of that none have looked the same. That's just the way it goes. So when I saw these two I was amazed!
It's true about hallway cosplays though. I know many just want to be there and have fun in a costume, and that's fine. But it seems (From the cons I atended recently) that people are putting less and less effort into their presentaion in the hallways. It's sad, because I love the costumes in the hallways. It gives you a chance to see their work up close and ask questions on how they achieved the look of "Insert costume piece here". Truely sad indeed.
I'm certainly glad you found them! These pictures are awesome!
Wow...long post, sorry about that.

Sok, I have long rants about it too. Its one of the reasons I moved from hall cosplay coverage to just shoots, because the quality of hall cosplay is hitting a medium- there's a lot of 'good' work, but it's often bought, and looks just like every other costume you see around it. People seem to be a lot less interested in going that extra step beyond and working on their whole presentation.
In short- in a sea of mediocrity, it's hard to find people and groups who excel who aren't specifically competing.

yep...and unfortunately that's part of the world we live in. Why put a lot of effort into if there is no return or reward? Now, I admit I love competing in masquerades as much as the next person, but always put as much effort into enything I make. I makes me sad to see things and be albe to tell instantly where it was purchased. Which isn't to say buying is bad either, but it's a growng trend that is becoming larger as younger people start finding cosplay interesting.
With scheduled shoots you are able to pick and choose who you work with, this is good not only because you get to find Cosplays you want to photograph (and if you like it, it's easier to photograph well) and you get to be selective with your models (Not everyone knows how to pose or move in character...or model at all for that matter...)
A sea of mediocrity...and sad and unfortunate thing. I hope we don't stagnate in this trend.

*nods* Pretty much- I mean, I can't knock the people who want to cosplay just for their own fun! So I try not to complain that people don't put the effort out these days. But it does make for a smaller pool of models even in a larger cosplay 'scene'.
What I think will happen is eventually our cosplay scene will much more resemble Japan's, but that will be another decade in the making.

I agree about those who just want to have fun, because that is what a convention is about, but when I see a good cosplay my first reaction is, "How did you do that?" or "Where did you get that fabric?".
In the end though, north america's cosplay scene is rather new, as compared to say japan or the sci-fi comunities especially. Not to mention japan just has more resources as for as cosplay goes. Not nessesarily in fabric or whatever, but they have Cosplay shops and access to remakes of popular items found in various shows (For example the D. grey-man black order badges, I found some at a con by lucky chance. Which isn't to say Cosplayers here can't get that, it's just not as readily avalible.
Okay...wow, more giant posting. honestly, I don't mean for these to turn out so big!

Hey! Conversations are conversations, and it's nice to chat. ^_^ S'no prob at all.
I just hope I'm still in the scene long enough to see the changes. It'll be interesting to see where we all are in 10 years, 15 years from now.
