I have no idea what category I should put this in. I did this today while sitting here watching hours of those judge shows all afternoon
I always wanted to do a manip with falling snow, hope it turned out okay! Tell me what you think

Edit: Thanks for all your suggestions! I added some more snowflakes that aren't as blurry and I changed the colors a little bit

Nice manip, I like the snowy ground
The falling snow doesn't seem quite right to me - the big unfocused dots steal some of the attention away from the subject. I think because it was taken from a picture where a flash was used and the rest of the elements were clearly not. I see you've already made some changes to it from your comment, and it looks much more natural than the source image, it's just not quite what I imagine falling snow looking like in a picture like this. That's just my bias though, it depends on what kind of look you're going for.
It really is a good manip, though.

I'm not really sure how to change the snow though, the stock I used for the snow I used as just a reference. I painted the snow using the hard round brush on photoshop. When the snow wasn't blurred, it didn't look like it was falling, it looked like a bunch of floating white balls

As far as the falling snow goes, I don't think it distracts too much from the subject... But if you're worried about it, how it should look might depend on the lighting... in the reference pic you used, the snowflakes are bright because of the flash being used.. so the closer the snowflake to the camera, obviously the brighter it is. I guess you could look at pics of falling snow in a more natural light for other ways to paint snow... Just an idea; like I said, I don't think the snow looks too awkward, it just gives the idea that there is a light source coming from the direction of the viewer. Yeah, sorry.. ramble, ramble... lol

Recovery is going...slow. Last night I must have moved in my sleep because I woke up and my leg was out of the splint and I was laying on top of my stitches, so needless to say I was in a lot of pain

OUCH!!! I know what you're going through to a point. I had carpal tunnel surgery about 17 years ago, and I too slipped out of the splint, but I hooked one of the stitches on the splint in my sleep, and pulled it. Not loose or anything just pulled it enough to wake-up screaming in pain.
I hope that you don't have that happen again(slipping to splint). :hugs:
