Making my first art post of 2018 a good one! This had been finished since one of the first days, but my finals kept me so busy I was unable to upload it oml

Those of you who have been with me for a longer time might remember Damon as being one of my first OCs, going back all the way to pre-2010. And dear god, was he an edgelord! Overpowered, over-Sued, and overdramatic. For the past few years I've been wanting to redesign him to properly reflect the story changes that happened to him.

Some fun facts about Damon, listed in a handy list format because those are ten times clearer than paragraphs
▶︎ He's one of two people currently fighting over the leadership of Hell, the other contender being Gravio Alexi, one of my first characters. He gained his position through inheritance, as some sort of heir. He's a brother of both Tomius and Satan, the latter of which has long since died, and inherited the latter's title since Tomius wanted nothing to do with Hell.

▶︎ To explain Hell more, it was originally an accidental soul landfill because demons weren't assigned a place to go after death. Hell used to be a flat universe of plains, but was later combusted and created a chain reaction that makes it hot in the core and cold on the outside. Later it was turned into the torture plane it's more known for, as people whose body gets damaged heals fairly quickly. This process generates a lot of heat in and off itself, preventing it from freezing over. More heat, more land, more place that can be mined for materials.

▶︎ Damon's biggest goal is to find freedom for his people, who even after so long are still bound to such a cruel fate. If that means killing more people in life to transfer them to Hell and fuel its heat or army, then that's what he'll do. Everything for the end goal.

▶︎ He was raised by Tomius, as he was created by accident as a baby at Satan's death. I'm not so sure what exactly happened between the time Satan died and Damon returned to Hell to take over again and make it a machine against unjust fate. Maybe it fell into chaos, or maybe someone else took over there.

▶︎ Tomius wants nothing to do him at this point as he's a bit of a loyal lapdog to Heaven. Tomius claims to want the best for his people but ultimately was one of the people who condemned them to it in the first place, and he sees Damon's plans against Heaven to reverse demons' afterlife spawn point as an immoral act that can never be right. He's sorta right that Damon's efforts to murder are wrong, but then again he never tried to help his people out of this mess. Damon will never abandon his brother or give up trying to win back his adoration.

▶︎ In his old design and story, he used to be banished mentally to a different realm. In this new version, I am really unsure if that's still an idea I'd keep. He's got enough places where he'd already have been at as is, but then again his backstory is in shambles as I'm still constructing the history and timescale of demons c':

▶︎ When he was younger he used to accentuate his green eyes, but when he grew older he became more attached to purples and started dressing in them - despite them not working with his eye colour at all. The old greens are still visible in his god symbol.

▶︎ For someone who lives very close to the uninhabitable scorching zone, he doesn't really make good clothing decisions. Bare feet? Metal ornaments that need to be bent around his wrists, ankles, and waist by earth mages who can deform the material? To his defence, those black things you see underneath them are protective cloth and I'm fairly certain that if you scrape the dead skin off the bottom of his feet you can make the soles of safety boots outta that. Anything to look good!
That's about all I can think of for now, though I surely forgot something lmao
I'll probably still change a lot of details about his story and all, but for now he's been well enough adjusted to keep standing up straight, so that's where I'll leave him at! Of course, feedback and general commentary are always welcome ;v;
