I don't like how they made Coraline a typical spoiled brat with her more distracted parents. In the book, they seemed more polite, and whenever Coraline would start to complain, her parents simply ignored her, not say "Zip it!"

true! There were some major changes to the movie compared to the book. But, maybe to make the character connect to the viewers? or for the viewers to feel sympathatic? hmm

I see what you mean: Caroline was made into a brat, having totally stressed-out parents, and stranger neighbors. When her parents mysteriously dissappear, I guess she becomes sympathetic because she starts to miss them (like the scene where she slept in their bed).
In the book, Coraline and parents seemed more easy-going (which I liked more). Whenever she started to complain, they'd simply ignore her, not go "Zip it! AAUUURRGH!"

Nice piece.
I loved this movie so much, I saw it four times at the cinema. I can't wait for the retail release. It will be my first Bluray purchase, since I would like to own the best version of this I can (we're a few months behind in South Africa, so it's still coming, but it should only be a week or two longer).
She looks a bit meaner here than in the cartoon, but I guess everyone is entitled to their interpretation.
