This is not the same classic Pac-man. It's Pac-man from a different show with different timelines and characters, therefore the classic versions have nothing to do with it. This version of him has been hinted to be the hypothetical son of the original Mr and Ms Pac-Man, however.
So no, there is no 'cheating' going on whatsoever, as the two versions aren't comparable.

its very sad that the show was cancelled 4 years ago, i used to watch it everyday, especially when it was on at midnight lol

To be honest, there was never an official statement from Netflix or Namco that they've cancelled the show. It's simply been left on a hiatus, but there are no official plans to continue it so far, that much is unfortunately true. Fortunately there are still a couple of fans out there who are still making small contributions to it via fanart etc, however small.
