Ahhh... I love this argument born out of complete ignorance from the mindless Raven-worshipping maggots. Because it derails both characters in order to satisfy their selfish desires.

This argument, the "Robin is too dark for her, so he should go with Raven" one, cherry-picks one or two character and personality traits about Robin and Starfire and then reduces them to those traits and then proceeds to claim that's how they're like all the time and then misconstrues the nature of their relationship based upon that. Basically setting up a strawman in order to knock it down. Boy howdy, I do love strawman arguments!
The abject fail in this one is two-fold: Firstly, they fail to see, or outright ignore, the depth to Starfire's character and the numerous times the show proved that she was not nearly as clueless as she seemed. They fail to see that she is not a giggling ball of sunshine twenty-four seven and is perfectly capable of being serious and understanding and sympathizing with what her friends are going through. They fail to see that though she does get insecure and emotionally fragile and sometimes goes to Robin for support and bolstering, she is not dependent on Robin for her self-confidence and can and has stood up for herself in several instances. They also fail to see that whenever Starfire tries pulling Robin out of his brooding it is usually with damn good reason and when he's brushed her off she's been sad but, ultimately, she understood and accepted his reasons and let him be.
Secondly, they don't seem to realize that Robin's "darkness“, his brooding and angsting, his obsessing over cases especially ones involving Slade, and his pushing people away and closing himself off because "I must do this alone.“ was a freaking character flaw. One that he grew out of and got over as the series progressed, with only a few slip-ups here and there.
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, WHAT'S THAT? WHAT A FOREIGN CONCEPT!
I am honestly flummoxed and baffled as to how anyone could look at "Masks" and think, "Jeez Starfire's trying to pull Robin away from his unhealthy over-obsessing how annoying she should just stop bothering him and let him ignore his friends." I hate to pick on certain shippers here but this mindset often seems to go hand in hand with the notion that Raven would be better for Robin in this instance because she'd, like, not try to pull him out of it and instead let him wallow and leave him alone WHEN THAT IS LIKE THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE OF WHAT ANYONE SHOULD BE DOING WITH REGARDS TO ROBIN IN THAT CIRCUMSTANCE.
And let me be clear here, we're not talking about instances where Robin just takes a few hours to work privately on a pressing case. The Titans can tell the difference between when he does that and when he's over-obsessing to a counter-productive degree. In cases like those Starfire is only too happy to leave him to it, with occasional check-ins on him to offer food or sometimes sitting in with him to help. We are talking specifically about "Masks" and "Apprentice", where everyone can tell that Robin's way too involved and over-driven and it's putting a strain on his relationship with the team. And yet somehow Starfire catches flak for trying to get him to chill for like ten minutes and come out and socialize with his friends and maybe eat something and rest for a bit. (And even fully recognizing that Robin was taking it way too far and worrying for his well-being because of it, Starfire still understood why he was doing it. :
"He works harder than any of you! He works to catch Slade before something terrible happens! He works to save us all!" Yes, clearly this is a girl who does not comprehend Robin and how he works and is a "ditz".)
Just... HOW DO YOU DO NARRATIVE FRAMEWORK?! DID NOT THE SHOW ESTABLISH, NUMEROUS TIMES, THAT ROBIN OBSESSING OVER CASES = BAD? THAT NOT IGNORING HIS FRIENDS AND LETTING THEM HELP HIM = GOOD? WAS IT NOT CONSISTENTLY, REPEATEDLY EMPHASIZED THAT ROBIN'S WORKAHOLISM AND FIXATION ON SLADE WAS MASSIVELY UNHEALTHY FOR HIM AND THAT IT WAS SOMETHING HE NEEDED TO... YOU KNOW... NOT DO?
WASN'T THE ENTIRETY OF "HAUNTED" A TESTAMENT TO THAT?!
Every time someone uses this argument I just want to grab them by the shoulders, shake them, and ask, "HOW DO YOU SO FUNDAMENTALLY MISUNDERSTAND THESE CHARACTERS AT THEIR MOST BASIC NARRATIVE LEVEL?!"
It's like you don't even want Robin to change and grow as a person, jeez.

Robin is not a dark tormented soul that Starfire is incapable of understanding, thank you very much.
