Description This is my first try at digitally painting people. I really like this old portrait photography from the beginning of the 20th century.

Fantastic. Where exactly on Shorpy is the original?

Thanks, for the kind words Mike. I found the picture a while ago, I had to sort through hundreds of pages pf pictures. I tried to find it again to provide the exact link, but unfortunately I couldn't. There no easy way to find it, other than go through the whole search again.

Do you think you might want to use it for something ?

Hi, I too tried to find it but with no luck. I am just so impressed with your artistic talents and wish I could do this too but have no idea where to start. This was the reason for looking at the original... so I could try to learn.

Hey Mike. I'm no expert either In fact, I'm just starting out, this is only my second try at digital painting.

If you want to try it, you can check out some of the tutorials on dA. There are dedicated groups like #TheDigitalPainter who have specific sections for tutorials with a lot of useful information.

I just started off with my Wacom tablet, a reference picture and some particular brushes. You can just try it and see if you like it and build from there

Thanks (and I don't even know your name). I am hoping to get a tablet in the next week so for sure will give it a try. Thanks for the inspiration

My name is Romina, Mike

The truth of the matter is you don't 100% need a tablet. It is more comfortable and more natural to draw that way, but I've seen people draw without it with real success.

If you really want to do it, that shouldn't hold you back
