hello! agh now art is starting to get uploaded out of order from when it was finished eek! But I just got this piece scanned and edited for a contest so I will just upload it now... and some other stuff I had finished earlier will just be uploaded when I get to it Good time to plug my instagram now, Ellofayne, because stuff on there gets posted as I make it and even WIP stuff sooooo this doesn't happen ANYWAY

Like I mentioned above, this is my submission for Art Order's Tiny Dragons book! Wish me luck and hope mine gets accepted! I set up this piece a lot like how I set up one of my other paintings, a "magician's desk" if you will! I wrote a tutorial about it here! ---> ellofayne.deviantart.com/art/T… I love collecting odds and ends, bottles and all kinds of stuff, so I arranged it all and photographed it! I painted some of it as a still life in front of me, but my kitty was determined to eat all the flowers so I was really glad I had the photos when she scattered everything everywhere haha! Actually fun fact, that is the same blue bottle that is in the afore mentioned tutorial! That piece is called "Evil Magician" if you want to check it out in my gallery. About time I do another in that series anyway.... the whole thing was going to be a triptych and MY HOW TIME FLIES

On to this, I definitely wanted everything to look chaotic but I hope I put some of my composition knowledge to good use! I just took the composition class on schoolism, so it was all fresh in my head, like I said I really hope I made some good decisions and was at least more aware of what I was doing. The idea is that the magician or whoever, magical creature biologist, is writing a book and the important page reads "Dragons. While many fossils of all breeds of dragons have been found in all different climates, it is regarded that all are now extinct". Some of that is distorted because of the angle of the page and flowers, but right where the flower stem passes I feel like the first thing you read is "it is extinct". Yet the tiny little thing managed to knock over his ink, make a mess of that idea, and curl up next to the quill with a cat toy. Dragons are not extinct! They are right under your nose.... literally!
