Description (2014), 3" x 8", delica beads (matte black, matte dark brown, transparent lined brown, transparent dark grey, transparent lined light grey, matte light 14k gold, light apricot AB, gilt-lined white opal), black 15 seed beads, Fireline.

This pattern is based on the markings of a Gaboon viper. I remember watching my first viper at a zoo for what must have been an hour, being completely blown away by the geometric beauty and perfection of its pattern. Still, in nature you probably don't want to get too close and personal, despite their beauty: Gaboon vipers have the longest fangs, up to 2 inches (5 cm), and the highest venom yield of any venomous snake.

You are such a slytherin.

It is amazing. And I realize that despite being totally not a slytherin I currently have snakeskin pattern nailpolish on

LOL! Thanks. I guess I've had a thing for reptiles even before Harry Potter came along...

I think that, after the butterfly wing, this may be my favorite in the serious.  The neutral palate really lets the intricacy of the pattern shine and makes it infinitely wearable despite skin tone.  The texture of the beads perfectly compliments the inspiration and gives the effect of you wearing a skin about your wrist.  There's a thought:  Perhaps you could do a "shed skin" version in shades of white and cream?

Thanks so much! I think a lighter version would be interesting. I really love how this one turned out. You have the strong geometry of the horizontal bars but then there are also the more subtle changes from light to dark in the vertical elements of the pattern.

If that snake looks as pretty as your bracelet, then it's a real beauty.
You really have a talent for reptilian patterns. Ever tried to make a whole snake with beads?

Long ago I was lucky and allowed to hold a small viper in my hands. I love the warm smooth touch of their skin.
It was very young and sleepy from digesting its lunch - and I bet it was used to human hands. The owner had two kids who snuck out  some snakes to bed if their parents didn't watch it.

Thank you, and yes, it is a gorgeous snake, kind of stocky and short but with a beautiful, horned head and huge eyes. I like your idea of actually making a beaded snake...

So cool that you got to hold a snake! I have held a few pythons on and off, and they were fun, also a baby gator once. Currently I just own a bearded dragon, but I think reptiles are just awesome!

I adore reptiles. A colleague of mine once had two thorn-devils and they used to nod at me the whole time. She told me they were both guys and asking me for mating with their nods.
Found that funny

My funniest experience with one was in Florida with a young crocodile (I think it was one) that refused to move away from the street. Such a stubborn lazy sun-addict.

Thanks and sorry for all the typos and grammar errors. Shouldn't write during night ^^
Sometimes my hands and my brain do no work together properly, and my hands do not always entirely write down what my brain tells them to.
