(2013), 4.5"x4" for the bead panel, size 15 seed beads (matte metallic slate, light gold, bronze, black), owl bone-carving, black spinel and onyx beads, microfiber cloth, card-stock, fireline, polyester thread.

Another bead embroidery piece featuring a carved bone bead as its center-point. For this necklace I combined one large central panel of stitching with two smaller side panels leading up to two strung strands to fasten the necklace. I soaked the carving in strong black tea to give it more detail and definition and fixed it to a panel of microfiber surrounding it with a moon disk and abstract pattern for an effect of the owl sitting in a tree at night. I then attached the side panels with a large faceted onyx bead on each side to allow the necklace some movement and flexibility and finished up with a string of black spinel and gold beads.

I still have a little carved Chinese dragon and a moon face that wait for some needlework...
