There are so many reasons to like this photo, the depth of field is great. The balance and absence of detail is nice as is the light and shadow. It has the same sort of feel as Velazquez' Venus in some ways. I like it even more, however, because of how ideas of beauty have been messed up in China because of westernization (thin lips, western eyes). (Cosmetic surgery is one of the fastest growing industries in China). This photo is a good and timely reminder that "Chinese" is beautiful all by itself - without having to look like someone or something else.
