Well, I haven't yet read the novel but we can say yes: it's the book supporting the old camera in the photo, a 1968 french edition of L'etranger. I thought it could fit with a 100 year old camera, more etranger in time than in space.

Macchina fotografica del bisnonno: la mia nonnina è stata così gentile da farmene dono, dopo averle ritrovate in casa sua, insieme ad un altro paio di cosette, del genere che richiedono l'acquisto di un esposimetro.
Questa è inutilizzabile - avrà cent'anni - ma una delle altre - che di anni ne ha solo una cinquantina - merita qualche tentativo perchè credo che funzioni ancora bene. Magari con una bella pellicolina in B&W
