Description This was made in the biggest rush
It's a present for the staff of our local pharmacy where I quit working yesterday. They are a group of amazingly sweet persons, so I wanted to give them something back - and as they werealways asking about my kittens I thought this motive would fit.
The problem: I figured that out tuesday morning, with tuesday evening my last day. So I worked all afternoon and managed to finish it just in time. Yay!
It's basically a rework of the photograph [link] and I'm pretty happy with it!
Sadly, it didn't take photographing well - I tried my best.

Time: about 4 hours
Medium: coloured pencils, kneadable eraser

I'd love to hear what you think about it!

When I saw that in the gallery I first thought it was a photography you edited at the computer. It's just not fair to be able to do that! That's deception!

Thank you for the compliment! The original is so much better, there was much more detail that got erased by the photographing process

Sometimes photography is unfortunate, I agree. My camera has a colour problem sometimes, that can be very unnerving. Due to it, Lo's cloak would be blue...
But now I can barely get it switched on, so that matter is ad acta anyway.

That violet/blue problem has nothing to do with your camera alone - it's the hue that makes things complicated. We're basically seeing a colour in real life that doesn't exist - at least to the way the camera produces colour. So it does the best it can and the outcome is this blueish tint. My father once explained it to me in detail, but I didn't get half of it and forgot another forth.... something to do with natural sunlight and artificial light I think.
Too bad your camera is failing, though!

I know it also has to do with everyone perceiving colours slightly differing. My exboyfriend also saw the lilac in this example as blue. He was a bit colourblind though, too.

Oh my god, they are so cute!!
You did that in 4 hours? I love it!
Maybe the edge between the picture and the background could be either a bit more defined, or more blurred... but apart from that it's wonderful.

Why did you quit?

Elveanna In reply to Kimni [2010-08-18 12:09:44 +0000 UTC]

I pimped the photograph to get it more real-like, thus the edge

I quit because I'm moving (I thought you knew that since ... may? )

Well, I knew that you are moving. I just hadn't thought about that any further, so I hadn't realised that you would have to quit that... but it makes sense, unless you want to drive through half Munich all the time...

The fur was really hard to do, because the reference is a bit blurry, so I had to improvise at times
