yeah, still messing around with Vorpax Chronicles creatures. This is one of my centaurs. I picture them as something different than people with the lower halves of horses. Hence why the centaur appears to be very thin and lithe. These guys live in the forests, so I kind of melded a deer and a horse together to design its lower body. If I had used plain horse structure they;d look heavier and more bulky. Some centaurs are more bulky, true, but those are the berserkers and they're very few. I mostly wanted to focus on the regular ranger-type ones that are fast and swift runners and know their forest like the back of their hands. And hey... look at the background!

Βλέπω ότι διάλεξες τον δεύτερο τρόπο απεικόνισης κένταυροι= πλάσματα-του-δάσους-σαν-ξωτικά-απο-την μέση-και-πάνω σε αντίθεση με τον πρώτο ο οποίος με βάση με τα πρότυπα της μυθολογίας μας τους δείχνει με ανθρώπινα χαρακτηριστικά. Μία ερώτηση γιατί πάνω απο τις άλλες οπλές έχει άσπρο τρίχωμα ενώ πάνω απο την μπροστινή δεξιά έχει μάυρο; έχει καμία σημασία;

I'm currently reading Steven Pressfield's book that defines the Spartan warrior. Something that i never realized until i read it is that soliders would keep little trinkets and reminders of home on the insides of their huge shields. That's what I thought of when first saw this. What I like most about this picture is that it keeps me guessing and makes me watch the charcter all the more intensely.

Wow. That's really deep! I haven't read that book just yet (though I am familiar with it), but frankly, I really wasn't thinking much of a spartan definition of a warrior for my Centaurs... at least, not the ranger and archer ones, the berserkers, maybe but all the others have a mentality a tat bit different than 'spartan'... It kind of applies more to my Minotaurs (I'm still trying to get that poor race to look anatomcally possible... poor creatures, I cannot draw cattle!! T^T)

I like your take on the traditional centaur. Never thought of blending a deer with the horse/human combo. Background is really pretty...

Yeah, it came out of the blue actually. I was aiming for something bulkier, but it turned out thin, and I thought, 'well, this looks different, lets play along' and I messed some deer in and kept working with that.
^__^ The result turned out better than I thought.
And the BG... a total, wonderful accident!

I like the lithe-ness... I'm usually turned off to Centaurs b/c of the bulkiness, but I like this one!

Love it. You did the lower body very well. Only one thing odd I find about it though. How is he standing on his two right legs? Not to be picky or anything it just doesn't seem natural.
