The theme for our halloween party this year is "Heroes"... not like the tv show, but actual heroes. Superheroes, personal heroes, legends, myths... that kinda thing. I'm also currently addicted to BBC's Robin Hood- I saw a few eps on tv a few years back and a friend recently lent me all three seasons, so I'm hooked. I've also always loved the Robin Hood legend. So it only made sense to be a female Robin Hood for halloween this year!

This is the complete outfit. It's not a store bought costume, so yo wont find another costume like it. I made it out of clothing items I had around the house, modifying things here and there.

The dress/tunic was a mini dress I've had for years. I shortened the sleeves to put under teh white sleeves so I wouldn't die of heat stroke. I bought a pair of brown leggings (which won't be worn when I wear this to the halloween rave/ball that QC Anime-zing is hosting, due to heat reasons- i'd rather not pass out). The belt is a waist cincher belt thing that I found at Wet Seal. I added a short petticoat under the tunic to give it a more feminine shape (because that's what I'm going for, a FEMALE robin hood, lol). I bought the hat at hot topic, bought a new pair of boots (cuz I love boots anyway, so why not?), and took the sleeves off of an old gypsy costume I had. The bracers were originally black, so I painted them brown. Voila! Instant femme!Robin Hood.

I also wore this on day 2 of our local ren faire and it was a big hit. The king warned his nobles that Robin Hood was in the area so to watch their purses, I had Scuttlebutt (of the Silly Sailors, Barnacle and Scuttlebutt) talking to me about my missing bow (I had forgotten my bow at home), and I had various patrons asking for my picture. Femme!RH is a success, methinks!

This is one of my favorite costumes I've done in a long time, so I expect to wear it again and again!

This is just a sample pic, to put the costume out there. I'll be taking better pictures in the daylight and hopefully in a forest as soon as I get time. Expect a full photoshoot within a couple months! ^_^

Oh and for the record... on BBC Robin Hood, Robin is actually one of my least fave characters. My faves are Guy and Allan, followed by Marian. I bawled like a baby at the end of season 3... literally. I was curled up on the couch in the fetal position, bawling my eyes out. Because of Allan and Guy, but also because of Marian. Not Robin tho. Marian. T_T I also HATE Kate (even tho we share a name) and Isabella.
