Description "Oh no!" I hear you think. "Two Savannahs! Is emberbridge one of those clone-fetish weirdos*?"

Nah. There's a point in her story where Savannah's whole life is overwritten by an alternate timeline. Kind of a Butterfly Effect thing, where every time the emperor tries to rewind time to succeed at his goals (which include, but are not limited to, saving her life,) he just screws things up more and more. Eventually he realizes the only way he can save her and do everything else he needs to do is to give her up. He completely shunts her history into another universe, a modern-ish one, and she's retroactively born to some of his friends in that Cosmos.

(I'd intended Swimming in the Deepest Blue to be a representation of the farewell scene that she doesn't know is a farewell scene, mere minutes before the emperor finally gives her a new life at the cost of, well, everything. Tear-jerker, that one is, and probably also subconsciously influenced by Dawn's introduction in Buffy S5xE1.)

But while she might have new parents, new friends, and a new past in a universe way more advanced than a sword/sandals/sorcery pseudo-Classical setting, she's still Savannah, irrepressible and loyal, even when she has no idea whom she'd being loyal to. So naturally, she follows her instincts and flashes of broken memory-that-never-was and ties the two timelines back together, recreating her original universe's history while also keeping the new history from the new Cosmos. Unfortunately, that means two souls trying to cram together in one body, which is a no-no.

So mitosis ensues.

Remember that Farscape plotline where Crichton gets duplicated, and they're both him? It's like that, except Crichton only had one past, while now two Savannahs both remember both of her pasts.

The downside is, I'm sure that it's pretty awkward when both of her introduce(s) her two sets of parents to one another. The upside is, twice the Savannahs means twice the fun, in the bedroom...and on the battlefield.

Oh, yeah. And there's also Tyrianesi, I guess.

*Only some offense intended to clone-fetish weirdos.
