Description "He feathered his nest like none other."

Watercolor & ink on cardstock, 2.5" x 3.5", August 2008.

Yet another fun ACEO commission for . :3 Does he have the coolest ideas, or what? This was way too much fun, all in all. I had some trouble with the nest at first, but I eventually added some contrast with black ink, and was really satisfied with how that came out. Like the Rust Merrow, this was a piece that I sat down with and just detailed and detailed to my heart's content.

P.S. I love his hat.

P.P.S. Everything I've been doing lately has been so broooown... I think it's because I'm less afraid of coloring stuff if it's slightly desaturated, but my gallery is starting to look boring. I should do something gaudy to make up for it. XD

Prints are available for sale at my Etsy store: [link]

Thanks so much! I get the feeling that the bandit is in business for himself right now, but I also suspect that sooner or later some lady will catch his eye, and suddenly that stash of shinies will take on new possibilities...

It is so adorable. I love that it still has a realism feel to it. I want one of those robins to nest in my woods now C:

That made me smile! I'd be afraid of him stealing all of my own trinkets, though. Perhaps you'd have to set up a birdfeeder covered with little jewels and such to keep him happy. XD

Or just put a shiny windchime near it.

This reminds me so much of the robin from The Secret Garden. Probably because I'm reading the novel and watching the movie and trying to find sheet music for it all at the same time har har har...

Anyways. I love it. I love all your "brown" pictures. They all have this nostalgic and fantastic feeling to them. The soft earthy tones of the whole thing is such a refreshing change from the highly bright and clean colors of the digital age we are in.

now enough of my senseless dribble...I shall retreat back into my hole for another 6 months or so.

Hey, I thought of the robin from The Secret Garden while doing this, too. and thanks so much for your affirmation of brownness! XD; It gave me a lot more confidence about it - it's just so different from what I used to do.

And it was nice to hear from you, Will. :3
