Unknown what the pillars would think of every single detail of every single event of the S1 premiere, S2, S3, EQG, S4, RR, S5, FG, S6, LoE, S7, the EQG shorts and Forgotten Friendship, the 2017 film, and Twilight's friendship school in S8. What do YOU think? How would the pillars react to Flurry Heart, Discord's reformation in Keep Calm and Flutter On, Twilight's actions in the 2017 film, her completion of Starswirl's spell, the returning of the elements tot he tree and why they should still be there, the rainbow power, the equality events, the time spell, and Thorax? How course Starswirl needed a friendship lesson. Celestia said it herself that he never understood friendship. That how the whole mess with the Pony of Shadows got started in the first place.

Celestia did say Starswirl never fully understood friendship which is why he couldn't finish that spell that Twilight could.

Yeap, watched it, it was awesome.
Though I'm a bit disappointed that the voice was not voiced by someone like Gandalf or Dumbledore or even Saruman (If Christopher Lee was still alive), but I'm ok with it, not complaining.

This was better final than last season's. First, season 6's finale was okay but not as good as previous ones in the past, second finale for season 7 was fantastic overall.

The finale was awesome! I am looking forward to season 8 btw! Chrysalis! 
In my opinion out of any cartoon to come from the 2010's MLPFiM and Rick and Morty are by far the best!Β
Anyways back to the finale it was awesome! I am just ashamed it leaked. It was supposed to air on the 28th of this month if I am not mistaken.

I think the finale was great. Though I wasn't fond of the siren part. Or just Starswirl in general. He was an ass. Especially to Starlight. And Starlight was more in the right because SHE THOUGHT BRINGING HIM BACK WAS DANGEROUS! But I love how we know the story of the elements of harmony now!

The siren part was pretty cool. It was really fun nod to second EqG movie tying all stuff together. As for Starlight, I kind of feel like they pushed her angle tad too much, but I guess she's Twilight's new sidekick thus tagging along. That said she did brought valuable point, not being 100% right but still. Anyway we got awesome episode with mane 6 tagging with heroic ponies of past to defeat evil. Seeing all them unite, having their bits here and there, from Spike's surfing on lava, to Pinkie diving to find the veilΒ and Twilight's fangirling and having major upsets of how she dissapointed Starswill to later redeem herself by reaching to Pony of Shadows - it was awesome finale and major step up from last season.Β

As much as it was an awesome finale, Star Swirl was a bit of an ass.

Your right! He thought he was a hero doing what was right and he thought his old friend betrayed them and became a villain himself and made the others turn on him and made him villain, turns out Starswirl was the real villain because he never really understood him or friendship!Β

You do know that Starswirl lived in an era where "friendship" wasn't the solution to any problem right? Instead he focused more on learning, working hard and using his skills to better equestria (Sound familiar? *Snowfall Frost) Anyways I find his attitude, his duty to protect the realm at any cost very fitting especially from a pony from a completely different era AND top it all off, Twilight unleashed the villain because she was completely obsessed with meeting her idol as she said so herself. Obsession clouded her judgement while pride clouded Starswirls.
Long story short, both of them were at fault in their own ways.

i don't think they ever said he was dead in the series at least and yes i thought it was a great finale better than last season's(which i enjoyed) and spoilers the flashback with the sirens means the fiendship is magic issue is no longer canon
