★Background★
Her mother lived in a beautiful town that surrounded the Castle of a kind and wealthy prince. One day, while he was out admiring the town, he saw Gretel's mother and fell madly in love with her. They began dating. However, a local girl was also in love with the Prince, and was determined to exterminate her. She began to dig up information about her, eventually stumbling upon her darkest secret. Gretel's mother was a witch, a fact she had told no one.
The local girl ran to the church with this information, and the church ordered her execution. The prince felt betrayed by Gretel mother. She fled for her life, hiding up in a small cottage in the woods near a quaint little village. She found out about a month later that she was pregnant with the prince's child (Gretel)
As a young witch, Gretel lived with her mother out in the woods. She had a happy childhood, working with her mother helping the village near then. They cured ailments in the village, aided crop growth, and entertained the children of the village with magic tricks. When Gretel was 5, she decided that for her mothers birthday she would invite all the people to a big party. As she was looking around for paper to write the invites, she found her mothers old diary. She read it, discovering her mothers love. She didn't think to read further, hurrying to write an invite to this person her mother loved so. The prince came, with his soldiers and sentenced Gretel's mother to be burnt to the stake and her house burnt to the ground. Gretel realized that she was the one to blame for her mothers death, so took it upon herself to make a witches contract with a demon early (witches are meant to make the contract on their 18th birthday). With the newly formed contract, she set out, destroying those who had killed her mother. She saved the prince for last, who by this stage had realized that she was his old loves daughter, but only realizing that she was also his daughter as his last breath escaped his lips. After that, the village baker took Gretel in, always having a soft spot for her. There she honed her baking and magic skills until her adoptive mother decided to further Gretel's education, sending her to OUaHS.
