Description She sat on the rock, as comfortable as if it were a seat. Smiling softly, seductively and full of confidence, holding the empty seal skin in such a way it still looked alive.
Her fingers were short, stumpy and webbed, but Sam was certain they were becoming longer, more human looking the more she sat in the sun.
Suddenly she began to chuckle.
"What's wrong?" she smiled at Sam. "Were you expecting a mermaid?"

This was something I've been wanting to draw for a while, I love Selkie's and after seeing some interesting versions on the net, and of course beautiful works, I decided to do my own.
This is also part of a short story I began to write on holiday, about a conversation between a woman and a Selkie in on a rocky beach.
In the story Selkie's are in no way gentle, they are dark creatures known for stealing children away from beaches, and stealing the hearts of men.
Art wise I feel there is more I can do with this, but it would involve me redrawing her all over again.
Maybe more in the future when I have free time
Was also interesting to work on, as anyone who follows me would notice I love drawing curves. However I wanted to get a sense of weight in this, thus my own body came in handy in more than one occasion with this for reference.

In Irish lore, a Selkie (male or female) would shed their fairie seal form when they came upon the land.  Often finding a human member of the opposite sex to engage in sex during the night and returning to the sea in the morning.  Changing back into their Selkie seal form...  More than a few fair human maidens gave birth to Selkie babies in the lore, it was these Selkie children that would be taken to live with their own kind, so the stories go (as told to me by my Irish mother)...

I love your curves and art... Wonderful 😺

Excellent design on the Selkie, . It's nice to see diversity in the body types humanoid monster designs.

I really like how calm and at peace she is.  It really feels like she's in her element in this picture.

It's nice to see a shapely, dark selkie for a change. Excellent job!

So this is amazing. Wow.

She looks striking and powerful and I love that you gave her weight, so perfect (skinny Selkies make no sense to me, seals aren't shaped like that) and her hands, too. My goodness.

I really hope you do more work with them because clearly there's something wonderful going on here.

Thank you very much hun, as a girl who carries more than a little weight I really wanted to draw something expressing the feel of weight rather than bouncy bouncy curves (which I do still love drawing) and a selkie seamed the perfect choice.

Yeah how would thin selkies keep warm!
