I looked out the window yesterday to see a hawk on my porch. They are somewhat common in central PA, but you don't normally get to see them that close. It was kind of cool. Of course, he most likely wanted to use the bird feeder as a buffet, so I had to chase him off. He's just doing what hawks do, but I'd feel a bit guilty if I made it too easy for him. lol.
Nice photo. Similar to the woodpeckers that we have here, but maybe the coloring is a bit different. I like to see the birds, but I'm but no means well informed about them.

Haha! Yeah, that's kind of cheating.
We've seen a hawk resting on our fence around lunchtime every day. Still can't figure out what species he is.
Thank you! This guy happens to be a red-bellied woodpecker. He and the downy woodpeckers are the only ones I really see.
