Skana is taking Empyrisan on a (dangerous) tour through a spirit world that is often called "The Canvas". The world is somewhat yin-yang in nature more or less and it's overall appearance seems to be a desolate, vast void either black (night) or white (day) depending on the time of the day in Arkaenalan. People tend to accidentally wind up in the Canvas and the only way out is with a shaman or a spirit's help.
There's more I can say, but I don't want to spoil too much! The boat that they're in is a typical spirit fishing boat that's suppose to look like a gondola and those glowing things are flying into a lantern Skana is holding so the two can stay comfortably warm.
This took three hours from sketch to final rendering. I'm surprised I got it done that fast!

This is one of my fave pieces of yours... ever. Seriously. Dark colors... er, black, like in this pic (XDD) can be hard to work with. And yet it's so well done. It's not creepy. It's inviting. Like, it makes you wonder what's out there. This is absolutely fantastic technique and it's such a warm and inviting picture. You keep doing it. You only keep getting better, love. I'll try and comment on more of your stuff. <3

Empy, thus is just .... so lovely and dreamlike. It's one of my favorites of yours I think. It's minimalist but I find it just makes me focus more on the little details and the little twinkling lights being drawn to the warm glow of the lanturn. Like fireflies or lost souls ehehehe. I'm drawn too, to the feeling of a tiny place of calm and sanctuary in an otherwise bleak place. Despite them being little more than silhouettes, this is easily recognized as Skana and Empyrisan - which I think says a lot about how effective and distinct their designs are. I can STILL pick out tiny thing - the ribbing on the feathers, the individual boards on the gondola, etc etc on this small picture. I would love to see it in higher resolution <3
Other than that I'm fascinated by the reflection in the water and the little ripples, you really are just getting better and better c:

So much pretties! And that looks to be my favorite GIMP brush right there (before I switched to CS3). And, oh my gosh, RIPPLES. Did you make a mirror copy and smudge it slightly to do that?
